the passing of a great American Naval Hero

I don't know if everyone knows who Admiral William Lawrence was...but he was a USNA Sup 1978-1981 and was one of the most supportive Naval Officers for woman to attend the Naval Academy.

Our family has the privilege of being friends to his son and his family - and I have spoken with directly with them this week to share our condolences for the passing of his father. Admiral Lawrence's daughter Wendy, was part of the 2nd entrance class allowing women at USNA, and she recently returned from yet another Shuttle launch as an Astronaut

Here is a link to this extraordinary American:

The son, also named Bill, told me that his father will be buried at the USNA Cemetery next week. I only wish I could be there along with the Brigade to salute this man. .

May we all honor this man and his service to our great country and keep the entire family in our prayers during this time.

An amazing man. Makes you proud to be American.

I used to go with my grandparents, who knew him very well, to many of the home football games over the past few years. We sat a row behind and a few seats over. It was a distinct honor to be in the presence of such an American hero

Talking to Bill, the son this morning - when he told me his dad would be buried in the Naval Academy Cemetary and I replied: "Wow, what an honor" - Bill said: "My dad actually wanted to be buried under the football field, but they wouldn't let him!!!" :-)

i could believe that

i pray for peace in the hearts of his family, and i am definately stopping by church tomorrow to pay my respects (i dont live near Annapolis, just to pray, you know)

peskemom- that's so awesome!
