Well, everyone’s chances are slim by definition. Lots more applicants than scholarships available, probably by about 20:1, maybe even more. But yes, stats matter so I won’t sugarcoat it. A 30 ACT does make your chances slimmer, I would think. But hey, you did get a fantastic scholarship already, and who knows. I hope for your sake I am wrong. I am just going off past results.

What chances would you give a deferred, then accepted, student with a 2310 SAT and a 4.46 weighted GPA at one of the country’s top 25 schools by average SAT?

EDIT: I just checked on my portal, and I am no longer a deferred student!

I would give that student an equal chance to the top contenders, at least on a stats basis. Of course there is more to it than stats, but you are at no disadvantage to that point in the consideration, at least.

Congrats on being accepted! Maybe it’s a sign? Best of luck as we (well, you and the others, me only as an interested observer) await notification.

Hi Fallen and others “in the know.” Does anyone have any insight or insider info on when the DH and PT will be sent out or arriving this year? Last year, packages were received on the 21st (The Thursday after President’s weekend) the equivalent of which would be tomorrow this year. My nephew is anxiously awaiting a nice big package (hopefully!) and I am on pins and needles waiting to see if he will be joining my son at TU!

We’ve been looking at past dates and they all seem to be around this time. Anywhere from the 15th-21st it seems.

I would be somewhat surprised if they weren’t being prepared for shipping now. I know Tulane lost a few days to the weather, so possibly that has set things behind some. But should be any day.

I seem to recall last year that there was something in Tulane Jeff’s blog indicating that the packages were “heading out.” I was hoping to get a clue from his blog this year, but no luck. My nephew is heading down to U Miami next week for their Singer/Stamps weekend (full tuition scholarship). Of course, I am rooting for PT or DH so he can attend Tulane!

Has anyone received anything?

No!!! Not yet…

I am so nervous! Plus I have been practically snowed in for a week and have done nothing but sit on the computer and worry.

This is where I need to give my annual, meditative advice of… breathe, people. Deep breaths. Try and distract yourself with other activities. There is absolutely nothing you can do to alter whatever is going to happen and whenever it will happen. As one who has been there, I know how nerve-wracking this is, but also know that the healthiest thing is to try and realize that whatever the outcome, your child will end up at a school where they will get a good education and have a wonderful 4 (or so) years. Whether that will be at Tulane or elsewhere, it will be OK.

I also realize that I am probably wasting my words in saying that you should relax, lol. It is hard. But give it a try if you can.

Great speech Fallen…now can you go use your magic powers and influence to at least get Jeff to post something on his blog (last year he posted a picture of all of the UPS envelopes as they were about to be shipped out). I must admit that I called admissions this morning to see if they could tell me anything but no dice…

lordy, leicester, imagine how the computer feels about that! and what if you died of worry atop the computer? the poor thing.

Well, all I can say for sure is that things evolve. Since last year was the first time they had both the DHS and PTA, they may have learned something from that which resulted in changes this year. Or maybe the introduction of the Stamps means they have additional decisions to make. We can only guess. There really is nothing to do except hang tight and try to not let the nerves get frayed.

Waiting patiently . . . .

(this same post brought good luck during early action decision season)

I bet you don’t change clothes when your favorite team is on a winning streak either, MWDad. LOL.

It’s only weird if it doesn’t work.

I like those commercials! They are hinky and fun.

Here’s hoping they go out tomorrow…

Alright everyone should post when they get notified so that we can all know if mail has been sent out.
