my son contacted the school and was told that by the end of tomorrow he should hear the decision. He got in EA w(honor program + 30k ) on the admission.

my son just told me that there is no email, no package from Tulane

GertrudeMcFuzz we are West Coast too. I better log off or I am going to drive myself crazy. Good luck to all the applicants still waiting.

Good luck @SoCalDad14! The waiting will be over soon, one way or another. I am NOT a good waiter - D is much better luckily!

Email just arrived - no scholarship for D. Good luck to everyone still waiting!!

Yeah I saw that Instagram one too! And on the accepted students page there have been one or two people who explicitly said that they got a PT award. Apparently some emails have been sent out too

I’m with the rest of you… no package, no email re: DHS. And we’re in Georgia. Oh well, it was always a long shot!

Best of luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Just got the rejection email. Had a small bit of hope but I guess Tulane is not meant to be the university for me (I still have a 25k merit scholarship but can’t make the gap without taking out 80 k in loans after four years). Best of luck to everyone else!

I did not get it, but I do have a 25K Scholarship and an invitation to the honors college. I will be in no position to decide until I have all of my RD acceptances.

we got the rejection email also… . This makes me wonder what kinds of stat qualifies for the PTA. My son has a SAT 2350, subject tests are 800, strong EC with rewards cross a few activities among state and national competitions, and 2 very strong essays for the application…

Oh My God! I just read your response about two essays and questioned why you said two. I only answered one of the questions! hahah this is funnier than it should be

Congrats to those that won dhs or pt. My daughter just told me she receieved the email. Im a little surprised too…she had an awesome project (imo lol) & very smart and witty pt essays…she is a recipient of the presidential scholarship award and invite to the honors program…I wonder what theyre looking for. My younger daughter made the comment that since they didnt like your stuff maybe they dont “get” you and maybe you shouldnt go there…and part of me is feeling that too lol…

but we do really like tulane…she has several other options and more she hasnt heard from yet.

good luck to those still waiting. Atb!

My congratulations to the winners and condolences to the grievers. You’re in a highly qualified group either way.

we haven’t heard in MD yet. hope springs eternal, or at least until D comes home from climbing and checks her email :-"

Of course congratulations to all the recipients. But I want to address the ones that did not get a PTA. The same can be said for the DHS.

It really stings, I know. And you look at the amazing stats you or your child achieved and naturally wonder what else Tulane could be looking for. But you have to remember there are only 50 PTA’s to be had and over 1000 applicants, and most likely half of these have stats virtually identical to yours/your child’s. So using those numbers, it is still a 90% non-acceptance rate for those with the super stats.

I don’t know if the cold logic of that helps or not, probably not. But hopefully a little, after the initial disappointment wears off. I do remember my D getting a “no” from WUSTL for their full scholarship before we found out about Tulane. So I do have some recollection of how that felt. And I still knew how amazing she was, as you do for your child. Just because they didn’t happen to get this one “prize” doesn’t mean they aren’t still the best of the best. Of course they are, or they wouldn’t have gotten nearly this far.

Finally, while I know some of you aren’t expecting, or even applying for, need-based FA, for those that are applying for it definitely don’t give up hope on Tulane being affordable. I don’t mean with huge loans, @Leicester is right that $80K after 4 years would be absurd. But for many there is grant money involved and far less in loans. So for those of you in that situation, hang in there.

@Leicester - OMG, that is awful that you didn’t realize you had to do two of the essays, not one. I am so sorry that you were waiting all this time for a reply that could only turn out one way. It is good that you can laugh about it.

D is home from climbing. She rec’d the email that told her that she was not a winner of either award. She’s taking it like a champ. She says she’s used to it.

I introduced her to a new word tonight: inured, as in grown accustomed to through troublesomeness.

Does anyone know anything about the Community Service Scholarship?

DS got his “no” email this afternoon and I think he was honestly a bit relieved. He is a Ramsey scholar at UGA and fell in love with the school and not getting additional Tulane money meant he didn’t have to think anymore about it (well, he still has Vanderbilt and Princeton outstanding). He had the $30k Presidential, but couldn’t possibly swing the remaining without loans, and he’ll be able to graduate from Georgia loan-free.

hbaoer - wow, after reading your note my optimism is fading fast. Especially since my D applied EA and was deferred. Were you really supposed to answer two essays? I thought it said pick one - but then again my D ran with the application on her own and I didn’t get a good look at it… If she only did one I guess we know the answer… With stats like that, I am sure you S must have many options.

Just checked - she did answer two essays. I guess there is a sliver of hope. Well if nothing else, I now know what to say if a super intelligent alien visits my house and wants to eat me. I’ll just say what my D wrote - “eat my brother instead, he’s tastier!” J/K
