The Perfect Graduation speech

Well its that time of the year again... I what like to know some tips and some of the speeches that you have heard that were very appealing. How much humor should be in it, how much seriousness, etc.
Thanks!

make it funny...and if you need to, enlist people who are funny to make you funny.

Also, put in a good mix of inspirational/inside jokes that only your class would know.

... well at my school we have homerooms from freshman year and from past years i just saw that they incorporated homeroom memories/funny moments from random classes ..

but then take into account that my class only has 120 people and everyone knows everyone.

Great username, Shah Rukh

Keep it short. Last year's valedictory had more endings than Return of the King, but with fewer special effects to keep us entertained.

Make sure it's inspirational and motivating, but feel free to throw some bits of humor into the mix.

Here is one from my high school a few years ago. Best speech ever; you can learn a lot from it!

Hahah wow that is an incredible speech!
If he wrote like that for his college essays I'd say anyone would take him

Do not quote Dr. Suess' "Oh the Places You'll Go", whatever you do.
Please. I beg you.

Just quote Veer Zaara or something hahah

Seriously though I think you shouldn't try for perfect. Just write what comes naturally and go with it. Come back to it. Get some suggestions and work with them.

My high school valedictorian speech in 2006. He was an all-around crazy talented fantastic guy, although this speech might make him seem cocky and rude. Totally great to watch, and no speech given since then at my school can even try to compare. He did tick off a lot of teachers/administration members though :D

Thanks for the advice yall, essentially I am combining a bunch of SRk lines...jk.
I am not the val of my school but the school Prez, so I have less pressure in a sense in making a finale speech

fa-la-la-lena, that speech your valedictorian gave definitely ripped off Conan O'Brien. Hard. Conan O'Brien delivered a speech at a Harvard Commencement (in 2000, I think) that talked about people's reactions to Conan having gone to Harvard. "And YOU went to Harvard?" instead of "And YOU'RE our valedictorian?" Yeah, I just wanted to point out that what your valedictorian said wasn't original. It wasn't a terrible speech though.

Anyway, Conan O'Brien's speech is definitely my favorite graduation speech I've heard so far.

Just keep it short. I remember the valedictorian was, like, the only Asian girl in our class of ~700, and she decided to give the entire speech once in Korean, then in English afterwards. It was around a 10 minute speech. Yeah.

Also, she didn't even say why she went through the whole thing in Korean until after she finished saying it (for her grandmother who didn't speak English), at which point she got a little bit of "aww isn't that cute" applause, but most of it was just encouragement for her to finish up with her stupid speech.
