Ga-
Are you asking what scores URMs got that got them into schools? There was actually a great graph, though I unfortunately forget where I saw it, and it wasnt just for urms, that showed the percent of admissions in certain schools by SAT score. It was interesting that there were more with SATs in the (old score) 1570-80 than those with 1600s that got in. I believe it showed admission rates at Cal Tech, MIT etc.

As an aside, people talk to each other on these threads, not just to the OP. So it would be nice to let them post what the want and not yell at them. Just my opinion.

Ga,
I do not think you understand. Just because a poster starts a thread, that doesnt mean everyone is talking to them. People may respond to a specific post in the thread, or may just post an opinion about the topic. If you work too hard to dictate what is posted in your threads, you may inadvertently miss interesting or helpful information, and you may run off people who wish to participate. It is your choice. Just trying to give you some helpful feedback. There are many of us who have been on CC a long time, and have learned from experience what works an what doesnt.

This is the most rediculous thread I have ever read...Obviously, any educated person who has spent some time on CC knows that there is ABSOLUTELY no such thing as a 'perfect' SAT score that will 'get you into every college.' I hate to break it to you, but it just doesn't exist. And, if you think that 2400 isn't perfect, than what is? I heard about a URM who got a 2450, but I'm pretty sure even he got rejected by MIT. Oh, and Jesus supposedly got a 2500, but he didn't get into Williams or Amherst...Does that answer your question?

token89, doesn't URM also connote underpreviliaged? so if the person you are talking about had both parents go to Harvard, then he is not exactly in need.
He should have gotton pts on legacy though

will you ppl just lighten up???......take a deep breathe....and come back down to earth. this thread is for people to share some stories and give some numbers. there are hundreds of other threads you can go to if you want to argue over college admissions and statistics (as i'm sure you have already done plenty of). this is just a thread to be taken lightly. (we all know that 2400 is perfect...but that is not the point of this thread) i guess some ppl just didn't get enough hugs as a kids.

so far only 2 or 3 ppl actually responded to the poster....by answering the CORRECT question.

westcoastlove, URM does not indicate "underprivileged". It indicates "underrepresented" - a smaller percentage at the school than exists in the general population.

what do you think the perfect SAT score is for a URM?
how about for anyone in general???

there are infinite answers........ can anyone on this site think "outside of the box"????????? besides...just 2/3 ppl???? ANYONE?????????? USE IMAGINATION????? GIVE AN EXAMPLE OF SOMEONE THEY KNOW???

I think the OPer meant what is the SAT score that is accepted as good enough for any college, assuming the rest of the transcript is at that high of a level (Correct me if I'm wrong). Obviously any one can be rejected from any college though, but it seems like 2200 is the score where you'll be fine as long as your whole app is up to that par.

I don't quite understand why people ask for the min SAT score for top schools.
Why don't you just get as high as you possibly could!??!?!
a 2200 might be enough but why limit yourslef to the min!? what works for other people might not for you

I think that this thread started being dysfunctional when the OP asked for people's opinions, then told some people that their opinions were wrong. Or when he/she asked for people's opinions and experiences, then said he/she only wanted numbers.

I think there's a lot of things to discuss about this topic, and people shouldn't limit it to just what one or two individuals want to hear. There are many answers, no answers... it's just one of those things.

That said, I am a white female (not legacy, not athlete, not first-generation, no stellar-by-Ivy-standards ECs), and I got into a top university with a 2210/2400, 1450/1600. shrugs

GAClass, you need to stop referencing you'llsee. You should realize he's a troll. For instance, how can someone in the college class of 2013 be a National Merit Scholar? (Look at the Stats Profile).

That said: 2400. Duh. And that still is no guarantee.
