<p>I think this is very relevant for BC, since it is a Jesuit university, and the Jesuits are known for being extremely liberal. Nevertheless, I think they tend to uphold the values of the faith very well while still retaining their own political identity. I'm going to Notre Dame, where the founder of Liberation Theology is a professor of theology and philosophy...so the Pope's statements are interesting in that regard, haha.</p>
<p>Dear foxofahollow : For a Jesuit university that is about to launch a ten-year, $1.6B infrastructure renewal plan while still charging $48,000 per year per student, the Pope's comments were noise - and background noise at that. Nothing will be changed at BC as a result of these few sentences.</p>
<p>Perhaps sincerely addressing other "very poorly handled" issues within the Catholic Church (see his quotes earlier this week) should be a priority over the question of collegiate secularism.</p>
