and the point u made in ur very first post was that i "learn" how to spell "you" for the "purpose of (my) college application essays"... which you seem to insist obtusely on not remembering at this point... so far no one has discriminated against me due to my preference of writing "you" as "u" here in a college forum... and the original post which has caused u such pain wasn't addressed towards u (read it again) but towards some guy who apparently knows me and lacks the sensitivity to understand that in a site named "college confidential", you're not to go around screaming, "yeah, i know u ___ ____".... it wasn't a message asking for your or anyone's help, ben... and hence i haven't lost out on any life changing advice. This is also my last message on this nonsense.

Well, clearly I lied.

How do you know? Obviously my point isn't about this discussion only. When you ask questions or need advice in other discussions, I presume you don't use standard English either. I'm positive that the number of people who even read your messages, let alone consider helping you, falls as the illiteracy of your discourse increases. As long as you know that, I am happy. This is really my last post, but I might still be lying.

well, i don't lie angelic smile so tempting as it is to ask you for statistical evidence that u are POSITIVE that "the number of people who even read your messages, let alone consider helping you, falls as the illiteracy of your discourse increases"... i will simply ignore it :D

Kee, if you put only one period at the end of each sentence, you would save enough time to spell "you" correctly.

I suppose that sounds snippy, but some folks don't understand that non-standard capitalization, punctuation, and spelling can make messages difficult to read. If you want someone to read what you are writing, it behooves you to make it easy to understand. Especially when you are quite capable of writing correctly, it's rude to write in such a way that requires the other person to exert extra effort and time to untangle your meaning.

i tell you what: i write the way i want and stay out of this "snippy" grammar nazi forum and all of u live happily ever after :D... further objections to how i spell, write, sleep, eat, think, dress, look can be PM-ed to me because i'm not applying to caltech and i'm not visiting this thread anymore. i came here to give a fellow bangladeshi a piece of my mind for misrepresenting my country; my job is done. oh yeah, my hidden motive was to offend a lot of people with my "..."s and "u"s... and make people calculate how many "you"s i could have spelled in the time it takes me to put a few dots... now that i've got caught, i'm running for my life.

so far, i've sported a pretty "ok-all-this-is-ridiculous" attitude about the whole "u" and "you" thing. seriously though, it's sad that some of us lack the decency to let go of others' habits. if you think i have a bad habit, you're entitled to your opinion as much as i am entitled to spell "you" and "u" or give lots of .... however, there's no need to blow up this issue because i have hardly offended anyone with my dots and u-s, or made my english complicated to the point of being incomprehensible. a lot of people in these forums do not use capital letters after periods, do not punctuate properly, use a bit of shorthand (not exceeding it to the point where noone can understand what's being said). my english has also been fairly easy to understand. i didn't expect to find people being so petty about how someone types (especially when it's completely understandable, or else you guys wouldn't have been able to reply to my messages). and seriously, if it gets to all of you so much, go appeal to CC and ask them to ban the use of u and ....s. i will be happy to comply to a rule stating that.

i've had enough of this absolutely juvenile argument. if you hate the way i type, skip any posts you come across that are written by me. and instead of imparting typing advice, go advise the people who come here to find out about college admissions related stuff.

if thick heads like ben golub goes to caltech, then i dont even want to consider applying there.

remember one thing ben golub, you are nothing but a narrow minded egotist, picking up on trivial matters and trying to sound knowledgeable. why did you start up this fuss about ‘you’ and ‘u’? what difference does it make? did she ask for your opinion on use of grammar? it seems to me that this forum has equal share of high achievers as well as nerdy, lifeless a-holes.

Ben Golub graduated from this place a long time ago and has better things to do (like making lots of money, for example) than to answer to ■■■■■■ that post in 5 year-old threads solely for the purpose of…what was the purpose of your post exactly?

No, he has a point, Hriundeli. Here at Caltech, we’re all a bunch of big hurfin’, durfin’, grammar-nazi’in’ thickheads. And we have bad teeth, too. The ruse is up.

All hail the Great Thread Necromancer tpainnopain, Bringer of Truth and Justice to our poor, sightless eyes. Before his arrival, we all sat in ignorance, blinded to the fact that Caltech is little more than a rotten bastion of nerdy, lifeless egotists. U are the man!

(I, too, have nothing to contribute.)

It’s You are the man!…Gosh! if u dont no english, they’re so many better places then caltech for u…
