The Real ACT Prep Guide Tests

I took 1 practice test in here so far. Is this test easier than the actual ACT? Is it the same length (questions and time) as the actual ACT? I got a 28 and I'm planning on studying a lot more especially in math and science. I got a 29 on English and Reading and a 27 on Math and Science, btw.

Also, if there are anymore prep books that you would suggest, please tell me. Are some books better in certain subjects than others? Thanks.

Omg, I hate scores like this. It’s just like everything is “ok”.

Well, I would get Cracking the ACT for English (best book for ACT English). Also, try looking at what you missed in math and see if you need to learn any hardcore math. If not, try Kaplan (probably best book for math review).

On reading and science, just practice with more practice tests.

hope this helps :)

Thats the book I’m using. Yes, its the same length as the actual ACT. I’m assuming that since its from the makers of the ACT that its the same difficulty as the actual one.

Also, if you need more practice you can go to the ACT website, they have a sample test that you can take. Its broken down by sections, so you just click on lets say English and it gives you 5 passages with 15 Q’s each and its in this format for all 4 sections. You just click on the answer choices and it tells you if its right and why or if its wrong and why (just like it does in the real act book.)

btw, just to clear things up, I meant to say that if you do need to learn some hardcore math, borrow a precal textbook or something

Thanks. I’m going to look into that book. In math, it’s mostly just stuff that I have forgotten so I’ll probably look into that Kaplan book too.

Are any of these books usually at libraries?

Some.

My library doesn’t have any, but I have heard about it being available at a lot of places.

The practice tests from the Real ACT (red book) are previously administered ACT tests, so yes they are the same length and should be the same general difficulty level as the real ACT. With your scores…English and Math are usually the easiest ones to improve upon, so definitely try to focus on those, since your scores are balanced and you don’t have one glaring weakness. Good luck.

^They are only the easiest to teach yourself ;)

sci and reading are more coachable

^ Yeah I agree that science is coachable, but reading was a little more difficult for me because I guess I just am a mathematics person. It really depends on who you are.

can someone coach me in science?? haha…

it’s kind of hard to do over the internet hehe

I got about the same\ less then my scores on the real ACT book. I’d say it’s slightly easier or very close to the real test. I’d say around 2 less or equal to what you got.

^ or two above.

The actual ACT date can give you a lot of confidence.

what’s the trick to doing the science section?

^ go to the thread “tactics you use”

good science advice there :)
