After visiting ND , it seems like the right fit is someone who excels both academically and athletically. I recall our tour guide pointing out that over 80% of students at ND were varsity sports players. So although my D loves ND and does well in school/SAT, I'm wondering if ND is a good fit - she is not athletic. Any thoughts? Thanks

My daughter never played any sports in high school. She focused on community service and leadership activities. I think that ND wants to build a class of many interests and talents and not all students are athletic. Don't let that discourage you! Good luck!

You certainly don't have to be athletic. There are also people like me...I was a varsity swimmer, and I love swimming, but I am a big guy who isn't that athletic. Yes, I was part of the 80%, but I wasn't the one going out playing ultimate frisbee. I wouldn't let the athletic nature of the students discourage your daughter.

Yea, it's not like 80% of the students were starting quarterback at their high school.

I really appreciate all the posts. I was unsure if the ND environment was too centered around athletic competition. It appears that this is not the case. It was also interesting that there is a PE requirement. She likes the school because it seems to be a tight community of bright students who love their school in a Catholic setting.
