<p>Hello! I am a freshman in high school right now and I am a bit worried about my future application. As a freshman, I am in 2 clubs, hold an officer position in one, going to join Beta Club next month after being invited, and am planning on starting a debate team with my friend. So far, I think I am doing pretty okay. However, I would not consider myself an athletic person. I am not very coordinated, for one, and none of the sports at my school are my cup of tea. I do like running, but my school doesn't have a track team. Being someone that has dreamed of going to Notre Dame my whole life, I know that 80% of ND's student population was on a varsity team. If I am not on one, how much does it affect my chances? I do horseback ride, and I am about to begin to complete. If I start competing now and show talent, will that help me as much as a varsity sport would? Thanks in advance!</p>

<p>Haha, don’t worry about it. A lot of people I knew at ND weren’t very athletic. The only sport I ever did was swimming and I quit in 10th grade to do drama instead. As long as you have solid extracurricular activities, it doesn’t matter if they are sports or not. You should just get involved in whatever you enjoy doing and it sounds like you are. Good luck!</p>
<p>Relatively speaking, I would say I am kinda athletic, but still the only sport I played in HS was 3 years of JV tennis (our varsity were state runner ups two years in a row and I started in 10th grade…needless to say I wasn’t gonna be on varsity haha). I got into ND. Not being an athlete isn’t going to hurt you at all if you are a competitive applicant and show genuine interest in ND</p>
<p>I didn’t even play a sport in high school. I was overweight and frumpy the entire time I went to Notre Dame. Trust me, no one in admissions cares.</p>
<p>For what it’s worth though, ND is a pretty athletic school and most of your classmates will be active in at least one sport (whether or not it’s varsity or intermural).</p>
