The Right Teacher for Teacher Recs?

I'm applying to several summer programs and each one asks for two letters of rec from teachers, but I don't know which ones I should choose.

Some of the programs, like Summer @ Brown, are not focused on one specific subject. So I was thinking maybe my APUSH teacher to show that I'm a good student (I had a 97 1st quarter and a 99 2nd quarter), but I don't think he likes me. Then maybe Adv. English, because I try really, really hard in that class, but my grade is mediocre.

Other programs are specifically dealing with science, so obviously I'm going to ask my chem teacher, but I'm not sure who to ask for the second rec.

Any advice? How do you guys choose which teacher writes you a letter of rec?

Your transcript will show that you got good grades and are a good student; you don’t need a rec letter for that. If you’re not sure a teacher likes you, don’t ask him for a rec, regardless of your grade.

For the second rec for the science program, perhaps a math teacher?
