Hello, im a rising college freshman but have questions on the summer after HS..

It seems that all my friends have jobs or internships but i dont.

My question is, do future employers or interships look at what i did during the summer after high school?

i mean i want to have a job (in this economy..) but i am more concerned about if doing nothing hurts me..

seems like my summer schedule has less workload than when i was a high schooler.

thanks.

Case,
If you are able to, then by all means enjoy and have some downtime. Your summers ahead will be filled with lots to do I am sure.!!!

thanks for the info, any other suggestions?

I’m planning on chilling next summer, possibly touristing in Europe.

Seriously, this should be the most relaxing summer of essentially the decade. The last 4 summers, you have been preparing for college admissions. Next summers you’re going to be doing internships, etc. in preparation for jobs. This summer, it’s fine to just relax and enjoy the time off.

Employers are not really going to look too closely at what you did—you’re not even in college yet! Don’t worry about it.

I don’t think at this point you need a job or internship that’s anything too formal or career related… Maybe get a fun part time job to get some money for college.

People generally do internships and jobs cause it looks good for future job applications, you might make connections, and you just might learn something.

Grads used to use this time to travel before they hit college, especially Europe. Whatever you want to do is your choice, but take advantage of it if you can; once you enter college, there ain’t too much free time.
