The theatre community is wonderful, in good times and bad.

I love the theatre community and have for many years. I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to be a part of it for a very long time. I am writing this with tears rolling down my face as I read how this community has come through to offer not only emotional support but amazing financial support to a beloved member of the theatre community, who had tragedy strike yesterday in NY. She and a friend were returning home from a church event and were struck by a car that went through a red light. She and her friend are both in critical condition and, tragically, both their children who were walking with them, were killed.

Since yesterday, the theatre and extended communities have raised ~$300,000 for the two families. The related comfort and support that is going on behind the scenes with getting extended family to the city, looking after the grief stricken husbands, cooking, visiting and supporting family at the hospital, it’s just an overwhelming show of a true family. Hug your kids tight today and savor every minute you have with them.

This has been such a devastating and horrific situation. It is heartwarming to see the community reach out in this way. By the way, R is no longer in critical condition thankfully and her unborn baby is unharmed. I don’t know how these families will get through this heartache.

A tragic story.

Thanks, Soozie. I just got home and heard the update. Am thankful that she is now stable and that the baby is okay. Such a truly heartbreaking situation.

When I first read the article this morning… I had to check to corroborate… because I couldn’t believe it! So terribly sad for those families.

What an awful, awful tragedy. I hope the outpouring of support from the Broadway community will be of some comfort. It is just an unimaginable loss. :frowning:
