"The thicker the file the thicker the applicant"

I was wondering if I would be qualified as a “thick applicant.” I submitted a short creative story to both Brown and Harvard. I also submitted a photography supplement to Brown and a SlideRoom supplement to Harvard (for my sport). I am an avid writer (included newspaper Internship and novel writing as one of my activities) and am also the president of photography club (hence the photography supplement). I thought the story would be a good addition to my application since I chose English as my major for both schools, but I’m now questioning that it may make it look like I value quantity over quality. Will they most likely just ignore my creative writing supplement? Will it hurt my app in any way?

Nobody on CC (as far as I know) works in admissions for Brown or Harvard so nobody can answer your question with certainty. All anyone can say for sure is that your application has been submitted and reviewed so there is no benefit to driving yourself crazy second guessing choices that have already been made.

If quality is good enough to grab the reader and the viewer’s attention, then you don’t have to worry about the quantity. Things are out of your hands now, so why second guess and worry?

@happy1 @TiggerDad thanks guys. I believe my story is intriguing (at least to my literature teacher) so I think I’ll be just fine. You guys are right; there’s nothing I can do about it now, so there really is no point in worrying.
