Colleges with LONG supplements?

It might sound strange, but I’m looking for colleges that have more generous word limits for supplements, like Harvard, UChicago, and Princeton. Anywhere around 350-500 words!

Why? So you can better display your writing talents? Is THAT a good strategy in choosing a college? A serendipitous requirement by the admissions office? Not location? Not size? Not strength of potential majors offered? Simply the allowance for an extra paragraph or two in its application? THIS will determine your college choice?

Seems backwards to me…

@T26E4 No. I appreciate your concern, but no, that’s not* (oops, omitted) what I was trying to imply. I was only interested in reading the prompts. I was reading the prompts for inspiration for my freestyle writings that some of the liberal arts colleges encouraged me to submit. I’d found that questions with 100 word limits tended to be really generic, so I was looking for something more interesting. I specified the word limit (350-500) just to clarify my choice of words “long” and “generous.” I read UChicago’s interesting set of questions (I wasn’t applying to UChicago, by the way), but unfortunately, none of them came across as an inspiration to me. Or maybe I was too tired to start writing anything at all. I have one liberal arts that encourages applicants to submit an additional essay, much like Harvard, so I was just desperately looking for inspirations to get myself started… I submitted applications to other universities a few days ago, and I had spent years doing my research, so I’m pretty sure they are right for me.

@T26E4 Oh, and btw, I was considering submitting an additional piece to all other colleges but made my own decision not to do so because I believed less was better. I did post that question here so maybe that’s where you got the idea of me wanting to “display [my] writing talents.” But… no, that wasn’t my plan.

Ok. whew!

hahahaa

@T26E4 Thanks for the reply
