No offense but I'm kind of sick of everyone being so mad with their FA. So this is a happy thread for those who just wanna talk about where they wanna live next year and what they wanna major in and etc.
So let's please keep thins a happy thread. And no braging or complaining both are not nice and are annoying.

I just sent in my deposit! Huzzah! I have no clue what I’m going to major in, but for dorms my top 3 choices are Pierce, Shoreland, and Maclean. These last 5 weeks of high school can’t end soon enough

Amen to that!
I put down my deposit too! Although I have yet to visit the school. Whoops. Let’s hope I love it when I go next week.

My top choices for housing are South Campus, Max and Pierce. But I keep liking Max more and more, and South Campus’ only negative is it’s distance from main campus. But I like its strong social feel. Dilemmas dilemmas.

I plan on majoring in economics with some kind of minor, just don’t know what yet.

Cool. I put my deposit down 12-19 four days after my decision. lol. Before I’d ever visited. My three are Blackstone, Snell-Hitchcock, and South campus.
I want to do Psychology and minor in HIPPS which lookslike the equivalent to pre-med.
I went and walked around on March 28 and I love it!
I hope you do too monteyy

South Campus already has a “strong social feel”? Can you explain how you know that?

Atlas216 - FYI Shoreland is closing at the end of this quarter. Will be rehabed into graduate student housing or condos.

Daggerman — just what I inferred from the other blogs around here. People have been talking about how it’s the new Shoreland. And judging by the reputation of Shoreland, I can only hope that the South Campus will be the same. Especially since one poster on the Facebook group made it his personal goal to have at least one party at South Campus each weekend.

LamiaServantrix – I’m really excited! Hopefully it will be a happy experience and not a devastating one.

Well that sucks that Shoreland is closing, i guess the reviews are a few years old. Which dorm would you say has the most social vibe? I like learning and quirkiness and all that jazz, but I’m definitely going to need cool people who I can chill with or it’s going to be a rough year

Your happiness will not last long at the UofC. Enjoy this thread.

■■■■■ alert… ;)

I am very happy with financial aid and will most definitely be going. I’l paying my deposit this friday after my mom gets her paycheck, As far as housing goes, my favorite is BJ, followed by South Campus, and then followed by broadview. we’ll see how things work out.

Lamia,

I just wanted to clarify that while HIPS is an incredible program (and one of my favorites), it is actually very different than a pre-med program. Chicago does have a pre-med program but it is not a major. You could be pre-med AND a HIPS major, if you like. The HIPS major is actually really interesting; it is about the history, philosophy, and social studies of science (and medicine). Essentially, HIPS majors examine the place and development of science in society from various perspectives. There are science requirements in order to be a HIPS major, but the program itself is very much a Social Science, not pre-med.

Atlas216 I don’t think that you’ll have any trouble finding cool people it is the Univeristy of Chicago after all! lol.

erika27 I am very happy for you. I hope to see you next year.

Oh. ok. So I wanted to major in Psych and minor HIPS. So if I want to do pre-med, what would you suggest?

Many of the smartest and most interesting people that I had the pleasure of knowing at Chicago were HIPS concentrates. The vast majority of them went the MD.,PhD route, with others going into public policy work.

Had I been better at math, HIPS would have been my concentration as well.

If you had been better at math? I’m planning on doing HIPS but i was under the impression that it’s not math intensive. Please elaborate? :)

(Oh, and Snitch is my first choice, followed by MaxP and Peirce, but i really prefer Snitch by a landslide.)

I’m actually happy with my FA! Totally! I’m definitely going.

Top three choices for dorms were Max, Broadview, and Snell-Hitchcock.

Majoring in physics/astrophysics for now…who knows what might happen in four years?

lol. Sweet.
