2nd class 2400

just curious..how many of you 2300+'ers had extended time?

2nd class 2320

Are any of you 2300 people slackers, meaning that you are smart but just don't push yourself in school?

ME! my teachers love to flunk me in class. :-(

:D I think I'll post... soothe that ego everyone keeps talking about.

1st Class 2300, (Composite --> 2330)

And if my twin posts, I must too... :)

1st Class: 2360 (And no, I didn't dare to retake :( )

no extended time for me (shucks) and i suppose i could pull better grades if i didn't do 2 sports and 4 clubs, but oh well...priorities, i suppose...(in response to the slacker comment)

so, no one else with 2300+? was the Jan. test really harsh or what?

dude where's the 2240 crew at?

good job to everyone, but can you share how you prepared to get such high scores?
it'd be really depressing if the majority of you said that you barely prepped at all (which i bet is true for some) =]
and do you believe that for some people, it is impossible for them to score 2300+, no matter how much they study/put their hearts into it?

Reading a lot is the golden way to build up ability, and the best specific way to prepare is to take an actual previous test under exact test time limits, and then really think about which questions you got wrong.

yeah i'd say actual tests are the best way to go. just keep taking em, and you'll be fine

I'd second that, I did a lot of practice tests before the SAT, it becomes natural after a while.

I did a grand total of one practice test before my first SAT (2220), and one more before my second one (2320).

Reading works, though. I'm slightly loopy about reading everything I can get my hands on, and that sort of thing pays off on Critical Reading.

My dad had me prepare for the SAT in seventh grade. He paid a high school girl ~$10/hour for "babysitting" when really we were in the library doing SAT practice tests together. I suppose the lesson here is

--start preparing really early so you're...I guess...used to it...? The other good thing about prepping in middle school is you don't have to do it in high school when you're much busier.
--work with someone else, it makes it fun.

Oh yeah, the other thing we did was we got these tapes by Renee Mazer called Not Too Scary Vocabulary. Which are just about the awesomest vocab tapes on the market.

By the way, I improved from a 194 (7th grade PSAT) -> 223 (8th grade PSAT) -> 2390 (10th). The huge jump was largely due to the preparation, and the other jump was just by randomly gaining experience.

I'm 2nd class I guess. First time I took it was in Soph year where I bombed the Writing Section.

However, I got a 2400 this year. So, let's start a new thread!

The Supreme 2400 Club! The Elite, and better than the 2300 club!

I got a 2300 the first time (CR800M710W790). Took it again because I'm insane, and ended up with a 2310. (Got my writing score up to 800.) I honestly barely studied - just took a couple of practice exams, but I've always had a preternatural and fairly useless knack for standardized testing. I attribute it mostly to reading a lot throughout my life - I have a good vocabulary and can "tell" when a sentence is wrong for whatever reason. Eh... I just wish my luck extended to my GPA as well.

I'm not sure I would call such a knack for standardized testing "useless", InvertedCommas. =]

2280....oh no...just missed it.

I guess I'm not good enough for this club.

But I am good enough for Harvard.

The difference between 2250 and above is nothing.

I'd bet money that all you UBER SMART arrogance will shine through in your college apps.

Cheers!
