I have a quick question that I feel didn’t need it’s own topic:

If i’m going to use my 2 years in high school as my foreign laguage requirment, do the grades transfer and contribute to my college GPA too? Thanks!

^ You can use it, but the grades will not be counted towards your CC GPA. Cheers :D

Thanks, you just made my day

Hi guys! I reposted from the general chance thread. UCLA IS MY FIRST CHOICE :(

Chances? or anything I can improve to be accepted to UCLA?

Transferring in as a Junior. I’m a CC right now! I’ll have about 70-75 units by spring 2012!

GPA: 3.46/3.53 by end of summer; 3.5-3.6 by end of fall 2011 (NO C’s! …somewhat frequent B’s)

Major:International Development Studies
Pre-Req’s/IGETC: 1/2 way done; will be finished by all by spring 2012 before transferring
E/C: Currently volunteer at a women’s shelter, museum and intl ngo for women (planning to take on a internship this fall relating to my major hopefully!)
Other: leadership program in Nicaragua 2009 as a junior in h/s; will also go to Thailand this summer for a reality tour on human trafficking
Work: I did do a year of work during my senior year of high school
Clubs: will join AGS this fall (also had a bunch in high school)

First Generation Student
Dean’s List

How hard/easy is it to get in Linguistics and Asian Cultures and Languages?
And how much does TAP actually help…?

I was wondering if TAP is necessary to transfer to UCLA. Will they accept me in a impacted major like psychology if my GPA is high - 3.8 and higher - or do they only want TAP students?

@cindylu2 It’s not necessary but certainly helps. I wasn’t TAP certified and I was accepted as a psych major with a 3.68.

@cindy TAP is like… that deciding factor. Scenario: You and another person applied for the same major with the same GPA, other person is TAP certified, showing he/she had committed their time on taking honors classes and to hold a good GPA all throughout the year, while you, on the other hand, are not certified.
Who do you think they will choose?
I have also heard in the past that TAP is actually a monster in terms of helping you out, the value, I don’t know but I would like to believe that it’s a great factor.
I am TAP certified and got in with a 3.2.

I got a question: On my UCSD ePAL it lists federal work study, but on my UCLA ePAL it doesn’t. Does this mean that I probably wouldn’t be able to do work study at UCLA?

@jasonSkim Did you have all of your prerequisites completed by the Fall before transferring? Because I will have one course left that I will complete by the Spring, but they won’t know about it. Again, thanks so much for sharing your experience.

just curious we didnt need to send official transcripts to ucla prior to admission right?
pleaseee answer

you dont need to send official records until AFTER admissions.
admissions decisions is around 3rd week of april, deadline to mail in transcripts is like june or july.

As of now I have a 3.5 majoring in business econ. I am TAP certified and looking to transfer from my california cc. I do not have many ECs but I have worked 2 years and counting. What are my chances of getting in/any suggestions for what I can do to improve my chances? Thanks

I’m an linguistics major and I have all of my pre reqs done(other than the requirement of having two years done), and I don’t have all of my gen Ed done. I also don’t have my two quarters of English (but I do have AP ENGLISH lit(4) and ap English language (3)). Can you tell me what you think I need to do? Thanks so much!! I currently have a 3.8GPA at ucsb and will be studying abroad next year(yes, I will be applying while I am abroad).
How much does ucla care about GE’s? I have my prereqs and will have about two upper division classes done before spring of next year.

has anyone received an email from UCLA before saying to apply during the window for apps?

I’m applying for Micro/Immuno Bio at UCLA. Transferring from UCI. GPA-3.74

anyone applying next cycle for 2014?

@RCLA325, me! But I’m studying in Indiana CC, so there might be some problems…
I probably will apply to UCLA, but I guess my best choices would be private universities… Also, for an OOS transfer student is GPA of 3.85 for econ OK?

actually, if you go to the office at murphy hall. you can hand deliver transcripts. I did that when I transferred to UCLA last year.
