Hi guys. I was wondering if you can give me some info and feedback on the pros and cons of these two colleges. It does not have to be long and such. I would love it very much. Thank you in advance.

P.S.: I am majoring in either Mathematics/Economics or Pre-Med.

If economics, I would definitely recommend Chicago. In addition, I think Chicago has a better area. Cornell is sort of in the boonies in upstate New York, quite a drive from NYC. And UC is a lot closer to action. But then, I'm biased.

hmm cornell has a very pretty campus and hell awesome food...the weather's a biatch tho =)

Academically, Chicago kicks Cornell's ass in math and economics. Those two departments are two of the best in the world. There's also a major in Mathematics with a specialization in Economics at U of Chi. That's what I'd like to major in.

Otherwise, well, they're both cold. They both have their pros and cons, go visit them and see for yourself.

Go to Cornell only if you:
1) don't want to work as hard
2) can't find the major you want from Chicago (for example: engineering).

Otherwise, Chicago kills Cornell.

Guys, this post is insane. The above poster wants legit info, not just yeah Chicago kills Cornell in x, y, z. I am sure a lot of ppl turn down Chicago for Cornell and vice versa, and I happen to be going to Cornell and I turned down Chicago and NW, and it was a tough choice. However, with that said, I do not think that you can go wrong. Trust me, you are going to work "hard" at both places, and not just as chicago. Also, what turned me away from both Chicago and NW was the quarter system, which was not appealing to me for a variety of reasons. However, if you are going into econ, Chicago is prob your best bet.

Chicago vs. Cornell is endless question and it comes down to what feels right and what you want to study. For what is worth my son chose Chicago over Cornell and others because he is studying Pure theoretical math which Chicago excels at. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. My son also preferred the more compact campus Chicago had vs. Cornell calves due to the larger campus. He also liked the smaller class sizes. Cornell student body is almost three times the size of Chicago's. One area prospective students should look more closely at in my opinion is the course catalog and the structure of your proposed area of study. My son again preferred the program at Chicago vs Cornell. If you have any thoughts to be an engineer go to Cornell. Chicago does not have an engineering program.

It's so tempting to discredit your entire post because you said "probably." I suppose your mother is probably the best source of information on your birth.

Wow, Brinestorm, why don't u take out your anger or problems out on someone else. I am sorry man, in this life, there are no guarantees, and therefore, I like to qualify my assertions, which is "probably the best" thing to do.

just ignore Brinestrom's childishness.

Qualify your assertions? Is that Newspeak or something? Oh, and you almost quoted Road to Perdition, but I guess the Fate sisters decidedly that doing something as cool as that would interfere with your Cornell future.

Don't say that Chicago's economics department is probably one's best bet when, if you were to go anywhere else, you'd just be learning from Chicago's textbooks.

jnumbers, get your O'Doul's and O'Dweeds out of my face.

actually, I said "qualify" not quality if you could read properly, but I guess that isn't the case.

Hey, let's all find a typographical error (Do you by any chance have a keyboard in front of you to look at?), address it and it alone in a post, and beat around responding to what really matters--the content.

titanium88: "dude cut it out.."

Were you doing the hand signals as you typed that out?

that's so dumb its actually funny.

as much as I respect your enthusiasm for chicago economics (my major), you are a terrible representation of chicago students. my suggestion: anger management.

honestly, thats what turned me off to Chicago, it was the people like Brinestorm, who are cocky and arrogrant. While this is not the case for everyone at Chicago, there are def some arrogrant kids, which Brinestorm is the epitomy of.

I am sure there are people like that at Cornell.

I am sure there are, which is quite annoying but this poster is not representing your school well at all.
