Did she receive an email, or was it just changed in the portal?
That is really weird. My D was deferred as well. Since we thought it would be a safety for her, I called her counselor who said maybe something was missing in app or her transcript. So maybe something showed up for your daughter??? Mind shared stats?
My son was athletic training major with deferral, but similar stats.
She received an email yesterday and was instructed to check her portal. The email told her she was accepted and to check the portal for her acceptance letter. When she tried to download the acceptance letter to read it, it says âWe are working on printing your final decision letter.â
when did she apply and for what major?
Hi Misa1,
She has a 4.3 weighted/3.9 unweighted GPA, 10 APs, lots of ECs and a couple of leadership positions.
She applied in late October with a biochemistry major.
a few people i know have speculated that they just simply ran out of time to evaluate all the applications in time, deferring people gave them a bunch of time to properly go through everything. congrats for your daughter!
Yes, my son was accepted on Thanksgiving and received his award letter a few days ago.
Anyone else receive an update since being deferred last week? Also did you inquire with your counselor about why itâs such a long deferral for Fast Track apps? My daughter just received an estimated financial aid award of $18K per year but was deferred until March. I really find this strange.
Yeah, that makes no sense to me! Did you reach out to the admissions counselor? Seems like they perhaps forgot to update from deferred to accepted for you if they already provided merit. Daughter received her acceptance in portal before merit info.
We got a financial letter in the mail outlining merit but we scrutinized it and it seems like this is a âif you get into Tampa, this would be the estimation of your aidâ. Is this what you got?
Yes, exactly, but who does that from a marketing standpoint. âYouâll receive our highest merit award, but we donât appreciate that you applied Fast Trackâ now wait until MarchâŠItâs a real turn off for my D.
Ha. I am not sure what types of issues would warrant an email to the admissions counselor. I am wary of emailing them about anything.
Our friend, who is a college counselor, said to email her counselor and just check to make sure the app & transcripts werenât missing anything and to use as an opportunity state that you are interested & a good fit. She also said this could be away to keep their yield up.
Thank you. I will have my daughter send an email! Nothing to lose I guessâŠ
Please let me know what the counselor says!
@meowfour @Misa1 My daughter got this response:
Thank you for reaching out. I do see on your profile that you have been placed in regular decision. The regular decision has nothing to do with your academic ability, itâs about the massive number of applications that we have already received for 2,150 seats this Fall 2022 term. We have nearly 30,000 applications already and will have about 50,000 before the end of this application cycle. Itâs incredibly competitive this year and itâs not a reflection at all on your academic background. We just will need more time to evaluate your application and you should expect an official decision by March, but it is possible you might hear back earlier. There is no need to submit any additional material as we have everything needed on file. You might have received some information on what financial aid we offer here at UT if you are accepted.
Thank you for sharing. Our counselor wasnât nearly as detailed.
She basically said she had all my D needed to submit and that she was a great candidate and she apologized for the delay.
My DD applied in August, was accepted early Oct. We are just waiting on her ED school to announce this month. She will enroll in Tampa if she is rejected at ED school. Very exciting. We loved the open house. Hoping we wonât be too late for housing depositing in late Dec.
