The wait

Exactly! There is so much self discovery going on! As much as I provide some structure, the self discovery just evolves. S was all about BFA, and recently said he’d be OK with BA, so I just go with the flow…there’s so much I’m learning by reading CC.

a strong pre-college program is really helpful in getting your kid to understand the attributes of a program that are most desirable for him/her. And help them to understand what they want to avoid. S also gathered impressions of other programs from faculty and fellow students and refined his search based on those inputs.

Someone on the regular thread for Emerson recently posted that they are RD 2021 -
anyone see decision re: BFA Acting yet? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/emerson-college/1972103-emerson-rd-2021.html#latest

Has anyone received a letter from Pace bfa acting or FTVO? I read where they may be sending them out earlier this week. I know calls have went out to MT and some other programs but holding onto hope that all letters are not rejections and waitlists.

Please remember that a school is not a safety unless there is no audition component.

I’m not sure about acting programs since my D is a MT major, but most MT programs have between a 2 and 10% chance of admittance. Even the outliers only have about a 20% chance at best! That’s not safe at all, especially when compared to normal college admittance.

I agree with @Jkellynh17 that a lot of kids figure out what they want through this process. Don’t be hard on yourself! It was a growing, clarifying process; that’s great, @remartin67!

@WorkOfHeart17 We are still waiting notification from Pace as well…no phone call, losing hope. My guess is a letter is not going to be good news, but maybe I’m wrong!

FYI, Boston University will make notifications this Saturday (3/18) beginning at 8am and “rolling out through the day.” BAL to all who auditioned for a coveted spot!

@LuvsLabs BU notifications like a Yes via phone call or email?

@kaf011 BU said their admissions decisions will be posted on March 18 on the student’s Application Link on a rolling basis throughout the day, and that the student will get an email when the decision is available.

@remartin67 my D is in the same boat…applied to MT but in December decided she would rather acting so we added a few. Stinks that some schools she auditioned for MT will not look at acting.

Question re: Tisch Drama. If anyone knows how admissions at NYU work, I’ve read on their admissions blog that committees are formed according to school/major. My question is whether the actual Tisch auditors are part of the admissions committee as well? Or are their audition notes just passed along? I’ve read that the auditors hold a lot of power at Tisch and will fight for someone to get in, so was wondering what the actual process is, if anyone knows. Thanks!

@meggysmom - Good question. My S was hoping for the Meisner studio and spoke to the auditor about it. I hope they are a big part of the process.

@meggysmom - my D attends NYU. As I understand it, the two parts of the process (academic and artistic) are entirely separate. In other words, as kids audition, they committee passes them, or does not. Meanwhile, the kid’s academic application is being evaluated by admissions. So you end up with 2 lists, kids that passed the auditions, and kids that passed the academics. You look and see which kids are on both lists - and that’s how you get in. I have also heard that if the artistic people really want someone (maybe they put a star next to their name, who knows) they will go back and fight for the kid if they are not on the academic list. The thing is, at NYU, kids need to take more “regular” classes than many BFAs - and NYU has rigorous classes. D has had more than one friend really struggle, or leave the program b/c of the academics. So they want to make sure the kids they accept will be able to do the work.

Hope that helps!!

Thank you, it does help! I thought I had read that the Tisch auditors give their list to the admissions committee, who then review the academics of those who “passed” the audition…

Has anyone who auditioned for Syracuse Acting BFA heard? @ActressP recently posted that they were accepted today.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/syracuse-university/1934635-syracuse-university-regular-decision-2021-2022.html#latest

@LuvsLabs - There is an Syracuse acceptance on the MT board

remember though, they will trickle out over the next several fridays and the order is not significant.

@Jkellynh17 Syracuse admissions said not just Friday’s. Decisions released randomly on various days through the end of March. Per Syracuse Admissions on Twitter. Still waiting to hear about my daughter. Totally agonizing.

Agony, is right. At least we’ll hear from Boston University tomorrow.

Ah that’s new then.
