Tired of Waiting. Screw 'em!

Is anyone else feeling the temptation to go ahead and declare for one of the schools you have heard from and say screw the others for taking so long? I only auditioned for 3 schools: Rutgers, UNCSA and SUNY Purchase. They weigh out equally for me on the positive and negative sides. I am in at Rutgers and have heard nothing from the others. I can only attend one, right? I think I am just sick of this and ranting so don't take me too seriously. I am SO ready for this chapter to end. Everybody else feel free to join in.

Nice levity at a rough time, tenyearplan! Thanks.

Hey tenyearplan, I have applied to the same schools and three others…but I have crossed two off and waiting for my last status to come through. I have heard from Suny, (waitlist) Rugters (in) and UNCSA (in) It’s though because my first choice is CMU and I haven’t heard back from them and the deadline for RU is April…so if I don’t hear back from CMU then I am going to make a quick decision. The best advice I can give is to call UNCSA and talk to Bill Poole…tell him that you have a deadline and would like to know your status…he will more than likely help you as he did that for me…I found out over the phone…so with Suny Purchase.

I hope that helps some

Is Rutgers allowed to make you reply before May 1st?

I didn’t mean to sound like I think this is much of a joke. Really we wish the waiting were over, too. My D’s last 2 auditioned answers are most likely going to be nos, and she has a lovely BFA in hand. She isn’t feeling like you, though - I guess she’s still curious about results (also some BAs that will come in). Mostly she’s trying not to think about it, so I don’t want to bring it up and ruin her nice state of denial (at least for a week or two longer).

SUNY Purchase waitlist. Screw 'em! I was a first choice for Rutgers. I am going to give UNCSA another week before I call although I am starting to want to say screw 'em, too. I am leaning more towards Rutgers anyway because of the year at the Globe and the lack of mt. Tanya Belov, Caroline Kava and the film department are the main reasons I am holding out to hear. It is six of one and half a dozen of the other besides that as far as I’m concerned.

Tenyearplan, wish we all had your problem…

Sorry. I was trying to make light of my situation and didn’t mean to be insensitive to those who have not had as much luck. I’m going to give this another day’s thought but I am getting warmer to going ahead with Rutgers. I see two musicals and no Shakespeare on UNCSA’s performance schedule and I’m not into that. My only reason for wanting to pursue a BFA in the first place is for the classical training and what could be better than doing it at Shakespeare’s Globe?

I know how hard it is to wait for a response. I suspect the schools you listed had very high numbers of applicants. The high numbers of applicants last year caused some schools to miss their notification deadlines by at least of week. Perhaps you are still under consideration and that is why you haven’t heard anything yet. Good luck and I hope the wait goes as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Niceguy, Niceguy, Niceguy thanks for the in put - we here in the nation’s capitol are waiting to here from NCUSA, SC and NYU - but SUNY Purchase wants an answer the sooner the better. Tenyearplan I would say don’t give up on NCUSA (Don’t Hate, Don’t Hate it’s to easy!) I have a great belief in what they do and how they do it, (then again my son has this Dr Jekel and Mr. Hyde thin going with SUNY AND NCUSA) and this is from a parent who use to teach Elizabethan English and whose son is been working with Moliere and Shakespeare exclusively since he was 12. Unfortunately I do not know if we can wait for an answer either. I know this doesn’t help but at least it wasn’t written to confuse either. Peace

They can’t do that! You have until May 1 if you want to take that long and them trying to impose any other deadline is as good a reason to say “screw ‘em” as any I’ve seen. It’s unethical! There are numerous old discussions about this on the MT forum. Just search for “national reply date.” Here’s an old thread dealing with it …
<a href=“Acceptance Letters - Musical Theater Major - College Confidential Forums”>Acceptance Letters - Musical Theater Major - College Confidential Forums; Sooz speaks the truth unless something major has changed since I went through this a few years ago.

How is it worded? If it really is stated as a required deadline after which your spot will be given away, I suppose it could be that whomever has been acting as chair since Israel Hicks died may not know he/she can’t do that. If so, I’d send an anonymous email to both the Dean of Mason Gross and the President of Rutgers so they can explain to whomever is in charge that this practice is NOT ethical. Maybe one of these lawyer parents can draft up something Pro Bono …

Sooz? SOOZ!!! What’s the current deal with this? :)

Tenyearplan,
Sounds like you’re getting that North Jersey ’tude down already. “Screw ‘em.” Yeah … LOL

UNCSA is unorganized and they only choose people who are all the same…no offence to anyone who got in…but they are political and its stupid.

nothing has changed- it is still May 1st
