Out of the lack of acceptances in the past few weeks and boredom, I was looking through old threads and I noticed that no one last year had been accepted in the late December to late January range.

Is that just a strange coincidence or do they not start sending out acceptances again until the end of January?

Does any one know someone or heard that someone has been accepted since mid December?

Remember guys... this is the military. the board people probably take vacation at diff times from mid dec. to early january depending on when they want leave. if one admissions person is gone the whole thing is held up.

I know someone who got his appointment in January three years ago to AFAPS I believe.

I also called the academy, funny how my "admissions" counselor doesn't work there anymore, but I left a message asking that question. Maybe I'll know tomorrow.

dangit! i want an answerrr now...!! this whole waiting this stinks and this is not good for me to find out that i might have to wait until february..!!! AHH..i want to know if i should be applying for my FAFSA and things of that sort. Dang.

I suggest that you continue the application process to all of your "fall-back"
options. I know you want to stay optimistic, however you must be prepared for the worst.
Even though my son has his appointment, we are still paying the housing deposit at the college he has chosen as his back-up. Dorm selections are on a first paid, first selection basis. I hope this helps.

I called my admissions liason person at the academy today (not my liason officer.. the one at the academy) and she said that the boards have started already and that people should be offered appointments this month. Im not saying any of us will for sure, i heard that only the highly highly qualified people get accepted before the end of february ad march. Anyway i really just want to know---but ill be patient

I received my appointment early January and I wouldn't have considered myself highly highly qualified. Don't worry about your appointments too much. Enjoy your senior year (or college) before the Academy. Don't overload yourself because things will be a little different in half a year.

I just got off the phone with my admissions counselor. She said that, if you're not PPQ (I am PNQ) that the requirements for admission are much much higher. I asked what I lacked in, she said my EC's were low, just athletics because I don't do HS sports. All else was strong. For those that know my CFA scores, she said its pass/fail, but that, while mine weren't on top of the world, they were good! She said they pay particular attention to pull-ups and push-ups, which I did well on.

She said the overwhelming majority of appointments will be in March, so don't give up hope! ;)

Thats interesting. I talked with my ALO about a week ago and he said that not being PPQ barely hurts you and that this year the CFA is not pass/fail as it has been in past years.

I'm beginning to think its like pulling social security numbers out of a hat because everyone has their own version of how the admissions process works, my counselor, my ALO, everyone, lol.

Realize that there are changes to the admissions process every year. In a perfect world every single person associated with the process would be able to give flawless information and therefore answers to the same questions would not vary from person to person. For the major stuff, I do believe this is the case. For those of you curious about the details, even though it may be frustrating to not get clear-cut answers on everything, many of these minor intricacies are beyond your control anyway. If all of your stuff's done, you just wait. Trying to analyze every possible reason for something, etc. will only drive you crazy. /my 2 cents
