the WAYYYY below average student....who's asian..?!?

it's pretty suprising how i'm asian and hold a 2.7gpa in school. that was my junior year. i'm a rising senior now and i have taken the new sat 2 times now- horrible scores both times. the first time came out- Critical Reading 450 Math 490 Writing 480. the second time was- Critical Reading 420 Math 520 Writing 560. i got an 5 on the first essay and 8 on the second. i'm getting tutored right now by a sr. at ga tech who's majoring in industrial engineering. he's helping me to exceed a 700 range in math and 600 in verbal. He's also teaching me precal so i can take it at school for next year. Here were my classes for junior year: orchestra, alg 2,Health/PE,Honors US history,CP Language arts, Physics. I have already taken 2 years of spanish. Also, i have been in orchestra since 6th grade. For next year, instead of trigonometry, which is a standard class for all rising seniors, i will take precal[kind of an honors level of trig]. Some of my activities that i've done are: helping out at a sat prep school, going to sat prep school for 1 year[pretty hard to believe after looking at my scores huh?], teaching VBS[vacation bible school] at my church, playing on a basketball team for my church for 3-4 yrs, being on the cross-country team and track team for my freshman year, winning an annual 6k marathon twice[first time- 1st place, second time-2nd place] in my age group. I will probably sign up for volunteer hours at my local library and join a couple clubs at my school this yr. I want to major in engineering or business so i will be taking mechanical drafting and business education at my school.
I'm willing to work my a** off this semester to raise my gpa to almost a 3.0. I will be taking one more sat in december. If i'm not pleased with my score, i will take the next test in january. Some of the schools i'm interested in are: University of Arizona, Arizona State, University of Georgia, GA tech[yea right..], Georgia State, USAF academy[the reason is that i always wanted to join the air force and become an engineer or technician]. Does anyone have any suggestions for me or questions? I know..i am wayyyyyyy below average and i'm willing to do ANYTHING to get into those colleges.

No chance at USAF, No chance at GT. UGA would be a reach.

If that Ga Tech senior is really helping you increase your SAT that much, and you can get straight A's next year, you have a slim shot at Georgia Tech. Make sure to really have a good app though

just to clear up some stuff: you are NOT way below average. Your SAT scores ARE average.

as for georgia tech: the ACT score range for GA Tech is 26-30. A 25 is right below that range. So you certainly have some chance there if you are just looking at test scores. BUT your GPA is way below their range. 60% of students at GA Tech had GPAs above 3.75...so you are in a bad position because of your GPA. i agree that you have very little hope there. You also have very little hope at UGA due to your GPA.

Arizona State seems like a good match for you, according to the statistics on collegeboard. Your GPA and test scores are well within their range. Your GPA is a bit low for University of Arizona but your ACT score is well within their range. You have good extracurriculars so seriously look into those 2 schools. You're in a similar position at Georgia State--but Univ of Arizona is a better school so I'd recommend that over GA sTate.

if you're willing to consider it: go to community college for a year after graduating high school, get a good GPA there (as high as possible, as in above 3.5) and then transfer. it would increase your chances greatly.

i was also interested in applying to state colleges in California, such as: Cal state fresno, fullerton, Long beach, Northridge, san bernardno. Are these good business schools? Would it be easy to find a business job after graduating/majoring in business from cal state? i just want to be noticed by companies and other corporations after i graduate from college. I want to be making moneeyyyy lol
