Theater at Grinnell

So today I was thrilled to find out I was accepted to Grinnell! As I make my way towards a decision in less than a month (oh god), I'm trying to get an accurate picture of my options.

Basically, I would love some first-hand views on how the theater scene is at Grinnell. What is the department like, what kind of shows do they do, the general student body's impression and participation, etc.

What I've gotten from the website is there are an ample number of productions to be involved in, and the facilities look marvelous.

I really love what I've heard about Grinnell so far, so any input you guys have would be lovely. :)

The facilities looked incredible to me. My son, who had been involved in theater from sixth grade didn’t pursue it in college. I know it was because there were so may other things to do at Grinnell. Best wishes! It was my son’s first choice from 10 amazing schools.

Incredible!

The theatre dept. is very committed and the profs are great! There are multiple shows and multiple ways to play a part. Also we have a long list of alumni that range from that dept! Anyhow, the best part is that you don’t NEED to be a theatre major or an upperclassmen. One of the shows this semester had two first-years in the leads and a History major and another major as the other major parts.

So, yeah. Its pretty swell! ^^ Also Bucksbaum = FANTASMIC!

The students love the shows too from what I can tell and we do a lot of variety. This year we did Political Theatre and Dark Comedy…well British plays and we will do others. There are also One-Acts and other things like GIT that do independent shows…

So, trust me when I say its awesomeeeee! =)

How are people who have had no previous theatre experience accepted there?
I’d like to try something new, aka, theatre once I get there, but I feel my lack of experience may result in failure/ridicule/some sort of disaster.
