How is the theater minor at UCLA? Is it difficult to get classes compared to the theater majors? Would you say the experience is rewarding? Difficult program to be apart of for transfers?

I’m a current UCLA student, but NOT a Theater major or minor. However, I have taken a Theater class before, so hopefully I can answer some of your questions.

It is difficult to get into some courses because they are restricted to Theater majors and minors ONLY. Even during “2nd pass enrollment.” A majority of them even require instructor consent (I’m looking at the class planner in MYUCLA right now).

Getting Theater as a minor is not a guarantee, and can only be applied to during the SPRING quarter. That means if you transfer, you have only 2 shots at this.
I highly recommend just taking whatever Theater course you can, and excel in it. The requirement is to take at least ONE class and pass it with a C anyways, so you might as well take one if you intend to minor in it. Just keep in mind that there’s a chance you won’t get into the minor, so make sure the class is worth taking e.g. counts towards your Upper Division unit requirement, GE requirements, easy A, etc.
