theater

Does anyone take a theater class in high school. I was thinking about taking it next year but im not sure. Is it all about memorizing lines and acting in front of the class?

I took Drama class in high school and it was a lot of fun. I definitely recommend it, however, it varies from class to class and from teacher to teacher.

There are also different aspects to theater: dance, acting, directing/scriptwriting, etc. I was in acting, which involved short plays, improv work, and the sort. Memorizing lines may be a part of it, but depending on your class/teacher, only a small part.

Drama class in my school is a 2 day/6 day cycle class where you make up little skits, sleep in the theatre skits, and shout random things at physics classrooms...

i'm also wondering if i should take it?!!

yeah same here

A lot of theatre classes are different at different schools. Does your school have a good arts program? Do you know anyone in the classes? Are there any requirements? You should definetely talk to someone about how the classes are. No one here can tell you how YOUR school does things. Better to do a bit of research now than to be screwed over for a year in an awful class later.

If the curriculum for your school's theatre class seems fun to you, then I'd definitely try it out. My school has a fantastic arts program including a four-year theatre class sequence and I couldn't be happier with my class. However, your school may be different. It's up to you.

i dont know what school im going to yet since im moving later on.

i was just wondering what your experiences were in the class and what it was like.
