basically.. how is the theater there? I want to act as much as possible and it is my biggest concern as i want to make dramatic arts my life. does anyone have any insight??

Given the size of the school itself (1300 undergrad), the Theatre Dept isn't that big. However, it is a very strong program here at Kalamazoo College. One advantage to the small size is that it allows more opportunities for students that want to be involved in theatre, but aren't planning on majoring or minoring in theatre,

There are typically two shows put on each quarter (quarter = trimester; 3 quarters = 1 year (yay math!)). One show will usually be a larger main stage production (usually performed in Balch Therater), and the second is a black box show put on in the Dungeon Theater. In the spring, the Dungeon show is replaced with two student-directed one-acts.

Beyond the Theatre Dept. there are several student organizations that are very theatrical. The first one is Monkapult, the student improv comedy troupe. Monkapult puts on several shows each quarter, as well as hosting improv workshops weekly. The second student organization is Just Panda, a sketch comedy group. They also perform several times each quarter.

Beyond the school, the city of Kalamazoo is a very artistic city. There are several theaters within walking distance (less than 30 min), and many opportunities to become more involved in theatre.
