Theatre at Columbia?

Okay, so it's in NYC. It's housed at Barnard. Rodgers and Hammerstein and Hart went there once upon a time. Supposedly the improv groups are popular. How's theatre at Columbia?

Please, please help!

actually im a bit curious too.

third that

it seems to me that schools would benefit from having admissions reps on here answering questions... or are there some already? anyway, point stands. i think. :D

anybody?? do they do musicals??

My sister graduated from Barnard about 15 years ago. She was in several excellent plays, including very strong musical productions of Hair and The Gondoliers. I still have the tape of their production of Hair and it stands up -- I'm a nitpicky critic of musical theater, and I'd pay good money to see a show of that quality. Granted, it's a long time ago, but I think it's rare for that kind of campus scene to deeteriorate over time, especially since the student body has only gotten stronger since then.

My d is going to go to Barnard next fall. We understand that Col/Barnard produces a musical each semester. I believe "little shop" was done this year at some point (though I might be somewhat confused about that....). Anyway, there is that component available (and my d is going to try to be involved!)

is it musicals only or plays too? as much as I love theatre, not a great music person

bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You might take a look at today's Spectator online for an article on LateNite Theater's tenth anniversary. It's a group that puts on student-written plays.
