Theatre Audition DVD

Hey everyone,

I realize there are a lot of threads on here discussing whether or not DVD Auditions are a good idea. Obviously the consensus is it is better to audition in person. Sometimes, however, due to cost / time restrictions there is no other option. I currently find myself in that position.

Does anyone have advice on some good ways to prepare the DVD Audition? I thought of having it done by a professional, but was somewhat shocked at the cost ($600). I guess I am concerned on how I will get good lighting, good sound, a good backdrop, etc. In short, I want to make a great video without going broke over it.

Thanks to anyone who has some insight!

Is there a university or community college in your area with a film program? You might post an ad on their bulletin board to see if you can find a student to help you out.

Good luck!!

Before you go to the time, effort and expense of having a dvd made, be sure to check with the schools to which you’re planning to send the dvd. Maybe not all, but some schools, will want to have already received a dvd submission by now. Check the timelines at each school and make sure you can still do this.
