In high school, I’ve really enjoyed the creative outlet presented to me by my high school’s drama department. I enjoy it as a hobby, but not really enough to seek a career in it. I’d love to be able to participate in similar programs in college. How difficult is it for non-theatre majors to participate in these kinds of programs at Northwestern? Are there special productions or choral groups open to all students?
Yes, there are lots of theatre and vocal opportunities open to all students. Besides acting classes for non-majors, the main stage and student-run shows, a Cappella groups, and some of the choral groups are open to all students. There is even a new student-run theatre group that was started last year exclusively for non-majors interested in theatre. Keep in mind that there is a lot of talent at NU, so auditions are competitive.
