I think they just finished sending out the waitlist letters. The acceptance letters are probably just being sent out for DePaul

More to add…

University of Minnesota
University of Evansville
CCM
CalArts
Rutgers
UNCSA
Ithaca

Don’t feel too bad for me though (I know that’s sorta a long list, I just applied/auditioned for a ton of schools). Here are my acceptances…racroce, I could be in you D’s class next year!

University of the Arts (BFA), with large scholarship
Elon (BFA), I think I got a scholarship, I’d have to go find the letter
Hartt (BFA), with talent scholarship
Marymount Manhattan (BA), with large scholarship
Indiana University (BA), with…no scholarship.

Only a few more weeks any we should have all our decisions! Argh, I can’t wait for the waiting to be over! I really just have to hear back from BU, NYU, Western Michigan U, and then see if U Michigan takes me off their waitlist. Good luck to everyone!

Is there a reason you are inclined to believe that ohhaicollege?

To answer everyone, yes I was accepted academically at everyone of those places, with amazing scholarships & honors program invitations, except for Emerson. I am still waiting to hear from NYU, which I’m slightly optimistic about since they weigh in academics equally and I had a very nice chat with my auditor, but also pessimistic because it really does not look like I am intended for theater, ahah. I am also waiting to hear from USC (B.A. theatre, I mixed it up a bit), and Columbia.

hpchik, I’m confused-- I thought Temple’s program was non-auditioned at the entry level. Good luck to you, though. It seems that these program results are hard to predict. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

hpchik:

I truly believe that there are two types of people:
- People who will get rejected and give up
- People who will get rejected and keep trying and succeed
Everyone’s going to get rejected at least once in their life no matter what. However, it matters how you respond to that rejection and what you do with it. If you love theatre… keep doing it. Don’t let any of these schools dictate to you what your good at because your not a fly in the wall watching them make decisions. You can make it some day if you continue to grow by doing what you love and if what you love is theatre… I’m positive things will turn out well.
In ten years… you will laugh at this entire situation and that you even cared about silly colleges.
I think finally learning and accepting that these situations will turn out for the best is the hardest process but it is definitely true.
Good luck!

She didn’t audition at UConn until mid-Feb. They told her decisions would be send out late March, so I’m guessing she’ll hear any day now.

D rejected BFA Syracuse and DePaul. Sigh.

D rejected from Juilliard after callback and interview; waitlisted at 3 schools; accepted to 2 schools and 2 non-degree conservatories; waiting for 3 more;

@glassharmonica: there is an audition for the musical theater concentration, sorry I was unclear! If I go to Temple, I can still major in B.A. Theatre (:
@nmicale09: thank you so much for that! I think that is important to remember, definitely. I definitely have been getting down on myself over these auditions, however, I have also started thinking about other interests I have. I’ve also had high levels of interest in Journalism and Mathematics, I just figured I’d go for theatre now since it’s harder to get into later. I’m not sure I’m even ready to be committed to this sort of life. But really, thank you for the kind words! Sorry about everyone else’s rejections, I know you will go on and do amazing things.

Onetoughmommy…S was rejected from Depaul too : ( but, was accepted as Western Carolina for the BFA program.

You must have auditioned at a ton of schools theaterguy because you have a nice long list of acceptances too. You have some great choices so I hope you aren’t letting these rejections get you down.

Your attitude is great, theatreguy. Congratulations on your wonderful successes. You also prove the point that a rejection doesn’t mean you aren’t capable. You obviously appealed to many schools, and the ones that didn’t take you just must have been looking for something else at the time. That’s what theatre is all about!

Congratulations on making such a successful list, and for coming out of what looks like a very grueling audition process with your sense of humor intact.

The thing we all learned during this process is there is no logic to it and therefore you shouldn’t take it personally. My S was denied at:

Pace - But was admitted to their honors college
Rutgers - But was admitted to their BA Theater program

But was accepted at:

Depaul
Loyola Marymount (LA)
Penn State
Emerson

Go figure.

when did you hear from DePaul??

Thank you! I did audition to for a lot of schools…probably an impractical number, but I wanted to have lots of chances and lots of options too.

But yea, the auditions were hard. Although I’d recommend to anyone in the future who is reading tis to audition for as many schools as you can (of course considering the cost, as well as making sure they are all schools you’d be happy attending). You never know who the schools will be looking for, who else is auditioning, and where you’ll get accepted. I’m lucky though, and I actually LOVE auditioning! I just kept telling myself that (hopefully) I’ll be auditioning often for the rest of my life, so why not do it now? And most of the schools that rejected me, I kind of had a feeling they would from the audition. So I was pretty prepared =)

MCAL101 - You can log onto to their Campus/College(?) connect site. It will tell you whether you were admitted. We still have not received the letter.

Sorry to hear about the rejections OneToughMommy. With the end in sight I hope your D gets some good news soon!

Thanks LoP. She should get word from some of her nonaudition schools in the next day or two (if the CC threads with this information are to be believed). I keep wanting to ask if she’s checked XYZ’s website, etc., but she’s so stressed right now that I don’t dare. So I just shut up and wait.
