I have a really important question that will change my schedule around completely. For each CORE 102 section, there are two "attached writing seminars" that correspond. Do we have to take both? For the one I am looking at, for example, both writing seminars take place on Tuesday.. just at different times in the day. This is the reason why I'm asking, because it was my impression we had to take both.. but are they just the same thing offered at different times?

Please let me know ASAP if you know! Thanks!

As fauxnom stated, the writing 111 is attached to Core 102. You will choose a particular 102 from the list of topics/profs and you also choose the writing teacher. The two courses you are looking at are probably the 111 scheduled times for the seminar and you will be in one of them. The seminar times are divided among the 6 or so writing teachers. In addition, you will have a private one on one tutorial with your writing teacher around every two weeks. The time you get (about a half hour) is worked out with the teacher on the day she/he allocates for the tutorials.

Yeah, I was referring to the CORE 111 classes when I was talking about writing seminars. Thank you for your help everyone. You have no idea how happy I am that I only have to take one of the two offered times attached to my CORE 102. It gives me a little more room in my schedule…

The one-on-one thing sounds interesting. I’m sorry if I sound kind of out of the loop on T.O. - I was on the waitlist because I applied late but they just told me there’s room for me in the program. If there’s anything you think might be helpful for me to know, I would really appreciate it. I didn’t attend any T.O. info sessions because of my waitlist status.

The one-on-one tutorial is not that specific to CORE 111, they have the same thing in writ-140 (except that in writ 140 it is slightly less frequent, maybe every 3 weeks)

Plus, your AL will probably schedule open office hours outside of class where you can talk with them. And, the writing center is open every day for similar 30 minute writing consultations (though not with your actual teacher)

Hi,
I was just notified I got into Thematic Options off the wait list. They’ve informed me that in order to do this I would have to replace two classes I really want to take this semester and it would really mess up my schedule. I’m also not too excited about the Thematic Option classes subject matter as shown in the catalog and really like some of the Gen Ed course options for future semesters. I plan to double major and will have a very full schedule each year as it is. I’m now rather ambivalent about whether to accept this offer into Thematic Options or not. It Thematic Options so fabulous I will regret forever turning this down? Anyone have any advice? THANKS!!!
