^ Is it still better to send it in early and say "I'm not sure if I'm going to USC"? Or is it better to send it in later when I am sure?

I think early with "I'm not sure". Thats what I did, and it wasn't an issue.

Ooh okay thanks :) Just curious, how hard did you work on the little essays they have in the app? Do they use it for content value, or is it like a "we want to see how interesting you are and see some fabulous writing skills as well" sort of thing?

If you know, that is :)

No clue, sorry!

I got a letter that mentioned TO, but it wasn't the TO invitation.
Is TO only available to the letters & science school only?
I'm wondering b/c TO sounds like something I want to do, but am I not eligible for it since I'm in the Marshall school of business?

jenny, same thing with me. Got a letter mentioning TO, but no invitation. I got in the Leventhal school of accounting/ Marshall. I would want to do this.

I got into Marshall School of Business and I received an invitation.

You can do it from any school because everyone has to do GEs. I know business majors in the program, as well as people from the film school and the engineering program.

i'm doing my little essay responses right now
i have no idea what to write
this sucks.
anyone done theirs yet?

I'm a bit confused. On the invite for TO, it says:
"Thematic Option is very popular and fills quickly... If your application is postmarked by March 24th, we will respond by March 31st."

However, on the website, it says:
"After March 24, we are able to admit students on a space available basis only."

Does that mean that prior to March 24, admission is not on space available basis, and therefore as long as we have the application in by March 24, we don't have to worry? I know I should probably just try to get my stuff in ASAP, but I keep redoing my responses- I'm just really unsatisfied with what I'm writing and I'm afraid it's not going to be good enough : (

"I'm not quite sure how USC decides to mail the letters. I believe that most people who apply get in, because those who are asked to apply are selective. The classes are somewhat harder than regular classes, but aren't impossible. They are mainly based in reading and writing. None of them require too much sciece."

^Nikara are you serious most people that apply get into USC?! Do you know how selective this school is!! I hope you're being serious.

i think Nikara was talking about Thematic Option, which is by invitation...if you got one, asking you to apply, it's most likely a shoe-in.
Otherwise, they wouldn't ask you....I don't think the suggestion was the University was easy to get in to.

TO sounds sooo cool. But I haven't even been accepted to USC yet.
To those who got the invite: when did you get it? when was it postmarked?

I barely got mine this week. I believe mine was postmarked on the 22nd.

It's kind of strange to me, because I got an invitation to Freshman Science Honors and TO. I'm not sure if I should do both, because my writing/critical thinking skills are horrible. Any opinions?

I did mean to the TO program, not to USC. Sorry to disappoint.

Should I call USC, because I'm interviewing for Presidential Scholarship, got a letter mentioning TO, but haven't received the application? I think I'd really like to be in this program (might help me decide to pick USC).

^
they will have TO applications during the TO session at Explore (at least at this past one)

so u can just pick one up there.

ahh
so i turned in my TO application on sunday afternoon...
and in my response for "what movie or book do you want to see or read, and why?" i wrote about the movie Crash.. I had no idea when it came out, I had simply seen a small part of it when a friend of mine was watching it and I thought it looks interesting.
And then, of course, Sunday night, Crash wins Best Picture at the Oscars.
Just my luck. I'm going to sound like an idiot..

my cousin is a current student in the TO program. she says she loves it, and that although it is challenging its extremely rewarding. i got the brochure for it awhile ago and sent the paper back in saying that i would like to do it if i end up going to SC

Psh you two are ahead of me. I'm still working on the TO application essays :p
