<p>err... mainly because ppl here care about the lives. 1600 without studying, thats not hard. Some ppl are just smart liek that. Remember this forum is sample of the best and brightest American has to offer</p>
<p>Also, remember that, as with most pursuits, more work time does not necessarily mean better results. Although it's a cliche, the advice about working smarter instead of harder really applies when it comes to standardized testing. Spending a month learning to write an SAT essay doesn't necessarily mean you're thoroughly prepared--it means you don't know the simplest and most direct way to solve the problem.</p>

<p>Well, I'm not going to comment about the Verbal, but scoring an 800 in Math without studying isn't really hard for someone who's good at math.</p>
<p>Well the SAT is relatively proportional to your IQ. Read the history of the SAT.</p>
<p>Here is my breakdown of SAT High scorers.</p>
<p>There are the I didn't study 1600 which is about 76% of them. Truly they are gifted. The remaining 24% are those who are moderately efficent on the SAT but work like fat kid in a candy store to raise it those last 100-200ish points.</p>
<p>I haven't heard of too many people going from a 1200-1600 usually I hear of high 1300's and 1400's that work for those points.</p>

<p>The SAT was designed to measure aptitude. Once you got your initial few practce runs in and know how the test works, very much depends on your intelligence. Put differently, your ability to study up on your own efficiently is already a reflexion of aptitude.</p>
<p>When you start talking prep courses like Kaplan and ****, you add socioeconomic background. That's why admissions officers would treat a 1150 from a poor rural girl with two books in her house about the same as a 1600 from a rich prep school kid with endowed professor parents. That stuff about them measuring how you've used your opportunities is actually true.</p>

<p>You just want to think that to give yourself a mental boost. It does measure basic intelligence, and you know that.</p>

<p>Out of 4 kids tessted, all had 1600's. 3 originally scored the 1600 without studying and one studied from a 1420. </p>

<p>i think the sats r biased. different ppl r good at different things.
i know i'm better at geometry but most sat math questions r algebra.
also generally ppl need to know a lot of vocabs for sat verbal. itz unfair for ppl who haven't been in this country for long and their vocab is still building up..slowly. i knwo some of these ppl r very good at other things such as writing and reading but not vocab.</p>

<h2>800 CR's just come naturally in many cases where people have read extensively (magazines like scientific american, articles from conservative intellectual politics and philosophy).</h2>
<p>If SAT measured intelligence alone, it would be difficult to explain my score jump in verbal from 280 (4 years ago) to 660 (this past March). My score jump is due to reading from these various sites in addition to some practice SATs. I am far from satisfied, however, with my current score and hope to see improvement this June. I read for pleasure, an increase in SAT score is just a little added benefit.</p>
