There really shouldn't be a debate on what type of laptop you need for college

"Why not report the number of Mac laptops sold compared to all laptops? I'm reasonably sure that most laptops sold are under $1000."

The > $1,000 market is desired by manufacturers. What would be scary for them is if Apple went downmarket. Which is what they announced at the last conference call on earnings day.

My point was merely that the >$1000 qualifier seems to me to be just a way to make Apple look like it has more market share than it does. A more exaggerated example would be to say that Apple sold 100% of all computers shipped with OS X. Apple makes good systems, true, but I dislike it when people try to make them sound better than they are.

It would be cool to see Apple go for a more mainstream price point. I'm all for competition in the laptop market, because then maybe more Windows laptop makers would design like Apple :)

The OP is either a spammer/ really desperate salesman, or... well that's what he has to be.

Why doesn't Best Buy sell Lenovo's by the way?

thank god. i thought this was going to be another lame apple thread. my laptop! it's so pretty and never crashes and i'm so glad i'm immune to viruses!
/rant

Haha otreb...

Anyone smart enough can avoid viruses and minimize, cushion, or prepare for crashes on a pc.
