I was branched to erie campus. Called to ask if they could reevaluate me for undecided. Straight told me on the phone then and there wasn’t going to change the campus I got into. Well that was quick.
I’ve talked to admissions counselors and my one friend that is a legacy was placed at altoona. GPA counts for a lot of the decision, about 2/3. His GPA wasn’t high and neither were his scores and he asked to be reevaluated for summer or undecided to up his chances at UP. they told him it wouldn’t change the offer because his credentials were too low for summer and Undecided. Maybe that’s what happened to you? That’s all I can think of. Also, undecided doesn’t benefit or harm your chances of getting in so I can see how it couldn’t change the offer.
@khn1997 what were his stats?
@Mr Tiddles what were your stats?
I haven’t the slightest ideas why you weren’t admitted looking at your stats
I know how you feel. Since they get so many apps, I thought it was strictly a numbers game. I have seen at least four posts of kids with the same, or lower stats then my son get into Smeal. He was rejected. Ugh. Frustrating. Good luck!
Sorry Mr Tiddles. At least you tried. For what its worth, I know of several high stat kids bumped to summer. An Eberly College of Science applicant with over 1900 SAT and 3.9 GPA, an CoE with 4.0 and 1870, and a Smeal with similar all bumped to summer. Both with all of the ECs, rigor, etc. It is very surprising… really, really competitive this year.
If you didn’t put “undecided”, you can’t change to it now. There were just too many strong applicants this year apparently, with many, many strong applicants denied at UP. Altoona and Erie are going to be very strong this year for your class.
