Yes, I'll definitely apply for financial aid, since my family is low-income.

Maybe you can be like Seabiscuit out of the movie; every time the horse stares at his competitor he gets angry, and then finishes him off.
And speaking of law, I was invited to serve in a Chinese family law firm this summer, but I have no interest in law and as such passed it up for a jazz improv camp, something in which I am far more interested. The top thing would have been Sen Lin Hu (one of the Concordia Language Villages) if I had not missed the deadline.

The ones at my school are in the top 10% Yeah, when weighted, my G.P.A. makes me the Asian val. The sal. is Caucasian, but so is almost everyone else who holds the top 10 ranks.

Oh, and Olive_Tree, maybe you can get some scholarships by searching on www.fastweb.com It's a really good search engine; you won't get any scams, and all it takes is writing several essays and perhaps you'll get a lot of college cash. Hope that helps.

Maybe I will do that, kman!

I don't think there are many Hispanic students in my school that are in the top 10. In my grade, I'm either the only one or one of a very few.

That makes you... a special ray of sunshine!!!

My grandmother was of pure Spanish blood. But that doesn't make me Hispanic. It makes me a Mestiza Filipina, which is a nice term used by the old ladies at church to mean "Bastard Child". My dad's white, so that adds to it.

Hey, if you're of two races, do you have to check off the one that you look like? I mean, I look Asian. I've always been Asian. But my dad is white. So can I just check myself off as white? Would that benefit me?

check off "bastard"

Excellent option. Then they'll pity me. By the way, I was the product of an affair.

yay for being an accident

A nerdy accident!

hey, watch it. lablondie has things

R_V, you can just check off both...not that doing so does anything; in fact only checking off Asian may hurt you. That said, I will check off both my black and white heritage in admissions provided no slot exists for 'mulatto'. (Of course, that nearly makes me a Brazilian.)

mulatto is a funny word
no offense

so is spork... and sewp

Brazillian? Then that must mean you're really gorgeous! I thought you were Chinese...

When my school does standardized testing, you can only pick one ethnicity. So my parents told me to check off Asian, because "I'm a minority". Well, that is not going to give me an advantage, is it?!

But when I apply for college, I'll check off both. Thanks!

Or, I could file for emancipation, get one of my Hispanic friend's parents to adopt me, and it'll be all good. We can forge all the papers. I look the part. I can speak the part. But of course, that simply can't be done.

i like bobert

Still, Bobert reminds me of something crude.

that's because bobert is something crude

i'm sure lablondie likes my name. she has to

I, for one, have never heard of that name.
