They superscore the ACT?

I heard that they do, so I sent two act score reports. Is this true, or do they only look at the highest composite score?

Thanks everyone!

They certainly do superscore the ACT. They tell you at the campus visits as well as online. My D's stats online show that they've picked the highest components from the 3 ACT scores they've received.

FSU does superscore the ACT.

I believe all Florida state universities do this.

yes they do and it significantly changed my son's score as he took it 3x and did well in each section. It changed his composite score as well. Wish all schools did this.

Yes. I wish UF would do the same.

P2N, of FSU, UCF and UF, only FSU superscores the ACT. UF and UCF just take the scores from the highest test sitting. I cannot speak for any other Florida state universities. Below is an excerpt from the UF website.

The university will accept the highest subscores from the new SAT if you took the new test multiple times. The university cannot mix or combine any ACT subscores.

Wait, I didn't take the ACT. I took the SAT once and got a 660 M, 640 CR, 700 W. Will that hurt me???

You're correct, tzais. This appears to have been a policy shift with UF, starting somewhere in 2005-2006 (perhaps coinciding with the ramp-up in applicant credentials). I suspect UF may reconsider this policy as many OOS applicants use the ACT and they bring in more dollars than in-state students. I know FSU is increasing its efforts at OOS recruitment.

Dramakitty, had you time, I'd have suggested you retake the SAT to better your score.

For the record, USF superscores the ACT.

parent2noles...i don't think i have/had time....how good of a chance do i have with the scores i already have? i have a 3.89 u/w GPA, 4 years of German, SGA for 3 years, NHS, writing and art clubs, drama (been in 10+ plays), student of the year awards in lots of classes including math and science classes, a hard curriculum, 2 AP's jr year and 2 AP's senior year, 2 good job experiences, community service, and overseas study experience. i know it's competitive but do i have an ok chance?? now i'm scared...

I think you will be admitted since you have very good qualifications GPA, SAT and activities and you applied early. Don't worry dramakitty. Your chances are purrfect.

You'll be fine for admission. I was thinking more along the lines of university scholarships. Both my daughters improved their scores even with one retake. :)

(lol, cybermon)

Oh...ok. Thanks...I was scared for a minute. removes bloody fingernails from mouth lol
