They want to see my 7th semester grades?

I have just received my answer from purdue engineering and it says pending/additional info. Then it says they are requesting my 7th semester transcripts. My grades 7th semester are about a 3.7 again. I don't know what to make of this and I am very stressed since this is my top school.

I have a 3.7 GPA
I got a 29 on the ACT (29 math, 30 science)
I am in weighted math, science, and latin and have been for most of high school
I go to a public high school in Illinois which is large and competitive
I am on the hockey team
I am an engineering intern at Fermilab in the summer
I volunteered on an engineering related city council group

What are my chances?

You are a great competitor for Purdue University; in fact I would’ve thought you’d be a sure in. Maybe your transcripts/recs didn’t send properly? Are you sure your application status is complete?

I wouldn’t worry too much!

I am sure they got my freshman-junior year transcripts, however, it says they want my 7th semester ones before they make their final decision. This makes me worried because I know kids who got accepted the same day I found this out and I think I might not be a good applicant now.

Does anyone know what happens in situations like this? Since they want to see my grades is this a good or bad thing?

Maybe they’re figuring out merit aid! I wouldn’t panic.

or it could mean you are on the borderline. dont panic. the good news is you did not get a rejection letter.

Has anyone else had this happen to them and know what they are looking for in my grades? Do they want consistantcy or an improvement? Also, should I call the school?

So your 3.7 is weighted? On what scale? My daughter just got this same request from another school and her guidance counselor said that meant they are looking for HIGHER grades during the 7th semester. My only advice would be to do your best, but get looking at some other schools.

I think your chances are fine. Most schools require 7th semester grades ANYWAY, BEFORE deciding. Q: What are your MATH grades like? Is there any reason those are low, and they want to see how you’re doing in math (for the eng. major?). Your two engineering ECs look great. My D is applying to IU, so I’m not familiar with Purdue’s process, but…perhaps they’re planning to admit, but they want to see that before they decide on OTHER things…such as “direct admit” to the school of engineering, or scholarships???

Example: Could they be waiting to see if you could nudge up to a 3.8 for this:?

Presidential Scholarship
Value: Up to $7,000 per year for out-of-state students; up to $5,000 per year for Indiana residents
Criteria: Core GPA of 3.8 on 4.0 scale plus an SAT of 1850-1990 or an ACT composite of 27-29 and an ACT combined English/writing of 27-29. The scholarship is renewable.*

? FYI…I think they accept WEIGHTED grades for these scholarships:

Good luck.

My GPA is a 3.7/4 weighted
