Things a Lawrenceville freshman should know.

A lot of schools have summer reading lists- it helps you get through more topics in English (and even history or philosophy), you often write an essay or something on it so the teacher can teach on writing without having to spend that time on reading, and it guarantees you won’t get completely lazy. In fact, a lot of public and private day schools have them.

I am also a freshman entering lville next year but I see that no one is particularly adding to the main purpose of this forum. Is there anything a freshman at lville should know? and that’s so awesome @squashisawesome‌ 9th grade buddies

There are 2 ice cream places in Princeton’s Nassau Square: Then Bent Spoon and Thomas Sweets.

I prefer the Bent Spoon, but you should probably try both and come to your own conclusion.

Closer to L’ville itself is a place called the purple cow ice cream? I think it’s right across the street and on campus.

There is a whole strip of small shops and things across campus, and students can go to those anytime (when not expected to be in class or after check-in). They spend free periods, meals, and afternoons there. Princeton is also just a stone’s throw away for weekend trips, but you do need to go by bus.

Purple Cow is indeed right across the street.

@sgopal:
3. Why not?
4. GPA is on a 4.3 scale. A+ = 4.3, A = 4, etc. Unweighted only.

Sorry, didn’t know there was ice cream that close to campus. Whenever I think of that pod of shops across from Lawrencevile, I tend to think of the bagel place and Fedora Cafe (coffee/tea, sandwiches, salads, pastries).

For those not from the area, the Nassau Square area of Princeton (a short bus ride from Lawrenceville campus) has many cute shops and good restaurants…though most of them $$. There are several national brands like J. Crew…but also one-of-a-kind places like Princeton Record Exchange.

Looking for a place to eat when your parents are in town? Check out Mistral (a tapas-y kind of place) and Ajihei (sushi).

That bagel place is really, really good- I’d be over there all the time.
