Lol, yeah :D.

-If you plan on going to UCSD, select your preference of college wisely. Although you mightn’t get into your first choice (I got into my second or third choice), inform yourself about each college PRIOR to arranging them in your order of preference in the UC application.
NOTE: Muir, Marshall, Warren and Sixth College accept IGETC. Roosevelt and Revelle DO NOT. If you get into ERC or Revelle, you’ll have to complete their GEs…

Also, don’t rely 100% on counselors. I never even saw a counselor ONCE during my two years at CCC and I got into SD, SB, and UCD, but that’s a bit extreme.

Go to them, but don’t rely 100%. You can get a lot of valuable information from this site.

I totally agree about community college counselors!
Out of the ~7 different counselors I went to, 4 seemed to know less than I did about certain issues/questions I had and 2 flat-out gave me wrong information!

This site is useful, but ALWAYS go to the campus website or ASSIST first for research. We’re not always right, and it’s best to think for yourself.

Also, make sure you understand financial aid and scholarship information for each campus you apply to. This could be the difference between attending and not attending.

Some BRAND NEW info:
- You have to send in the UC update in January. But for people on the quarter system (like me) spring classes don’t start until April!
So, what happens if you decide to take different courses than you said you would on the UC update? Will you be rescinded?
Relax! As long as you’ll reach 90 units, finish IGETC and major pre-reqs, coursework changes are allowed!
All you have to do is inform the UC you’re going to go to of the changes asap. You’ll be fine ONLY if you do that.

I am currently taking an elective course I didn’t plan instead of an elective course I planned to take in my UC application update. It was listed in my Conditions of Admission for UC Berkeley as a course I have to complete prior to transfer. I emailed my assigned admissions counselor and told her about my changes (I also sent a letter in early April but I don’t know if it was received…) and she immediately updated my Conditions of Admission to include the course I am taking now and exclude the course I planned to take but am not taking!

W’s are NOT the kiss of death like everybody always freaks out about on this board. I had… 7? I think? (I lost track, tbh) and I still got into Berkeley and LA. I took a W in the same class twice and eventually made it up lol. But don’t take a W for the heck of it either! :)

remember in high school when you were told that colleges were looking for an upward trend? it’s the same with community college. if your gpa is ok but not great, overload on units the summer and fall before you transfer and work your f-ing butt off. Show colleges that you’ve finally got your stuff together, that you’ve gained a new maturity when it comes to school. Your most recent academic history speaks to the person you’ll be when you show up on their campus. I have a crazy academic history (like at least 7 W’s, 3 F’s), but in the summer/fall '10 I took 35 units and did really well, and I think that’s how I got into Cal for fall '11. Also, address that change in your personal statement. Talk about your new approach to school/what brought it about.

Taking classes at more than one CCC (even at the same time) is totally OK.

ALSOOO, if you’re like me an have an inkling that you may want to double major, complete as many pre-reqs you can for your primary and 2nd major at CC. !It’ll greatly behoove you when it comes time to declare. You can begin your upper division coursework sooner = graduating on time. (i would hope )

To all prospective 1-year transfers:
- A TAG can only be signed if you have attended a CCC as a full-time student for at least two regular terms.
