Things That Hurt Your Chances: Is switching schools one of them?

By the time I apply to colleges, I'll have switched schools three times.

I've been told that kids in military families aren't looked down upon for this since they can't do much about it, but I'm just an average kid who's desperately trying to find a school where she can be challenged academically. I didn't even think of the possible consequences of this until recently. Will this look bad? If so, just how bad? Will good grades despite all of the switching make up for it?

It depends. Are you switching voluntarily?

It’s not bad in and of itself. What does happen, however, is the consequences of not having depth in ECs and deep relationships with teachers writing recs. no college will hold moving schools against you, but you’ll have to work harder to show your strengths in your app.

Two out of the three switches were voluntary.

If ECs and recs are the major problem, I think I’ll be okay. Thank you! :D
