Things to do around UCLA

Hey guys, I'm from a small town in NorCal, and chose UCLA because I knew it's where I needed to be. But now that I'm here, I found out I'm not actually happy...I don't feel like there's as much to do around as I wanted, like SDSU and UCI has so many things nearby that isn't TOO expensive.. I want to be able to do things here near UCLA, but I feel like you need money, a car, and pretty high social standing..

What things can I look around at, other than Westwood and Santa Monica. I want things like bowling, dance clubs, nice parks to walk around, clean uncrowded beaches. Simple life things, you know? Please help me out, I don't want to feel miserable and stuck here on campus )):

Is this a joke?

No, it’s not a joke.

How about Malibu beach for clean and not crowded. My daughter joined some dance club like swing dance and there were some clubs near Santa Monica. You can try hiking LA national forest. I agree there is a lot expensive shopping center near UCLA. If you are not into shopping or don’t have money to shop it’s not that exciting.
