What do you do in UCLA?

So now that my decision comes down to atmosphere (which I'll visit to see) and student life, I'm asking current students what their day is like. Do you go into LA often, or do you mostly just stay in the dorm? If you do go out, what sort of things do you do? Are there a lot of activities that you participate in, or do you not have enough time? ...that's pretty much it.

I mostly stay in the dorms, and hit the library on weekends during crunch-time for hardcore studying. Every other evening I either attend a meeting for one of my clubs or watch a movie. I go into Westwood about once every two weeks to go shopping at places like Best Buy, Ralph's, EB Games, and to grab a lunch or drink. I sometimes go into downtown LA on shopping trips to do some "specialty" shopping with friends. I also like to drop by Pauley Pavilion for men's volleyball home games when I have the time, because they're always winners...

yea a typical day is probably all on campus... class, club meeting, (i drop by the LA tennis center once in a while, our tennis teams are quite good too) then back to dorms for food and studying. thursday night i try to have some fun, maybe go clubbing or something... there's ALWAYS multiple parties going on either around UCLA (frats) or in the LA area near UCLA, and some student groups host their own parties at these places too. weekends is usually when i go out to westwood to eat or whatever. as far as activities to participate in, there's a ton of them, and you definately have time to participate in more than one. one of the reasons why i chose UCLA was because of the extracurricular opportunities.

Yup...even though UCLA looks fantastic, it doesn't seem to offer much more than Berkeley. My only chance of going there is if I fall in love with it when I visit tomorrow.

well, we have more sun than Berkeley - that's gotta count for something :)

It's all what you make of it. UCLA can be a blast, or it can suck. Make it a blast, trust me. :-)

"How to make UCLA a Blast for Dummies" (or in this case, freshmen)

^^ it's meant to be a question btw.
