amen to that… I’ll likely be getting a tattoo when I’m 18, and just because I choose to get one of enormous significance to me, in a place no one will see it except at a beach, does not mean I am “trash.” Trash is making generalizations like that about people. /rant

and on the NJ driver’s license thing… I really, really hope they do not pass the law making anyone under 18 put a bright orange sticker on their car… otherwise, taking it off will be another thing to do at 18 haha

This thread is awesome. People from New England and New Jersey labeling me trash. I love irony.

Trash transcends all locations bud. You’re exhibit A there…

/end fighting on the internet- http://xkcd.com/386/

“LOL @ getting tattoos. I didn’t realize CC was full of trash.”

“So leave and it’ll be a little cleaner.”
i love u, roman <3

mj, ■■■■■. That is SO me on the computer, it drives my boyfriend nuts. I’m pretty sure we’ve had that exact same conversation numerous times.

And thanks TheyCallMeCC, I <3 you too.

REAL fun is for 21.

Truth - 99% of the population would consider you more trashy than me based solely on a tattoo.

Just saying I agree with hatersunite, not necessarily the way he’s phrasing what he’s saying though. To be more accurate, tattoos are more commonly associated with a trashier stereotype. For instance, you wouldn’t necessarily expect some rich, preppy kid to have a tattoo. By contrast, it doesn’t come as a surprise when you see one on a trucker.

^Yet more and more preppy people seem to be getting one.

A lot of people in my school seem to be getting them, and extra piercings. And we’re a preppy Catholic school.

No one gets the tattoos where they can be seen, though.

I understand that viewpoint. Tattoos are a bit risque. But still…

I also agree with hatersunite (a rather apt name), although I wouldn’t have phrased it so…callously.

When I see a tattoo on a girl I think of it as a warning label that reads “stay away”

All a tattoo shows to me is that you are incapable of rationalizing short term decisions that have long term, permanent consequences.

Talk to me in 20 years after your tattoo is sagging and any respectable guy won’t throw you a second look.

Prove me wrong.

I don’t disagree. Perhaps I don’t mind so much because, well, I am a girl. I personally wouldn’t get a tattoo. But it doesn’t bother me if someone does.

But some people do have good reasons behind it. I’m not sure about teenagers getting tattoos, but adults are more likely to realize the permanence.

^^ hater and intangible, you make gross generalizations. A LOT of people don’t judge someone simply because they have one or two small tattoos. Now someone that has blatantly obvious tattoos on their arms or face, that is different.

My grandparents both had their tattoos for 50+ years, never regretted it.

My aunt had one for 15 years before she met my uncle. He owned his own business and put two daughters through private school, doesn’t drink or do drugs, takes care of his family, so I’d say he’s pretty respectable. Oh yeah… and she doesn’t regret it.

You’d really be surprised how many parents you know that have tattoos but simply won’t tell you about it.

^

Wow two whole examples? I see you are also a fan of generalizations.

Look around at the professionals of the world.

Ever see a Lawyer or Doctor married to somebody with a visible tattoo?

I am sure you could make up a family member who does though.

^ You said prove you wrong. Don’t complain when I do.

Ok, fine. Do you believe FDR was a respectable guy? He had a tattoo. So did Teddy Roosevelt. So did FDR’s daughter Alice.

I’ll come back when I have more, those are just ones I knew.

Less than 15% of the population has a tattoo.

FWIW I also go to private school and basically nobody has tats. I only know two kids with tats. One is classic white trash on a football scholly. The other is on a basketball scholarship and its a hidden tat of his brother’s name who was killed in Iraq. Most of my school is preppy.

“Ok, fine. Do you believe FDR was a respectable guy? He had a tattoo. So did Teddy Roosevelt.”

What does this have to do with anything?

^

Sorry, didn’t want to say all that. Instead, I said respectable. He asked to give an example. FDR was a professional. He got it later in life so he obviously knew the consequences.
