Things to do at UCLA

<p>1) Arcade with fighting video games
2) International film festivals at westwood
3) Day trips to Santa Monica</p>

<p>Add to this list</p>

<p>Eat at Pink's hot dogs and get drunk.</p>

<p>pink's hot dogs sucks. You would expect a hot dog with the name "world famous" on it to be super good, but the service is horrible, you have to wait 1 hour for a hot dog, and its expensive (4 dollars for a hot dog), and the worst part of all is that it isnt even that good. Go to downtown LA, the hot dogs are bigger, better, and cheaper (2 dollars)</p>

<p>I have lived in in LA county my whole life and I can not think of anything to do. I guess you can go to clubs and things like that. I wouldn't know anything about that because I really don't do the whole club thing. You can go to the beach in the summer go snowboarding in the local mountains in the winter. You can go dirt biking/quading/off roading in the desert. And of course play beer pong. Besides that you do the same thing in LA that you do in every major city.</p>

<p>p.s. I agree Pink's is over rated.</p>

<p>sex</p>

<p>(10chars:)</p>

<p>"I have lived in in LA county my whole life and I can not think of anything to do."</p>

<p>try living in Sacramento county your whole life, theres REALLY nothing to do here. I cant wait for LA.</p>

<p>Haha I am hoping to move to NORCAL</p>

<p>not to state the obvoius, but LA sucks..</p>

<p>I like the way you think Coast...</p>

<p>LA is the best city in the world!!</p>

<p>All the beaches in LA are amazing. That is one thing I will miss when I move up north to study at the most prestigious public university in the nation.</p>

<p>YAY!!! prestige!!!!</p>

<p>whoot whoot..</p>

<p>......................get over yourself</p>

<p>so cal > nor cal</p>

<p>and i've lived in nor cal all my life</p>

<p>lol so so bobbak?</p>

<p>that doesn't make you an expert. everyone has their opinion</p>

<p>Suggestions from an LA local(me):</p>

<p>I love LA. But yes there is definitely a bit more to do if you're over 21, in terms of clubbing, bars and certain gigs/shows.
-hiking, mountain biking(San Gabriel Mountains, Santa Monica Mountains, Griffith Park)
-Dirt biking
-Museums: Hammer Museum, Museum of Tolerance, The Getty, Los Angeles County Museum of Arts, Norton Simon Museum(very extensive!), Pacific Asian Museum
-Olvera Street
-Little Tokyo: so much japanese sweets, food and everything Japanese.
-Camping at the beautiful national parks.
-Little Armenia
-Chinatown
-Thai Town
-Koreatown
-Thai Temple at North Hollywood: Food fair every weekend, CHEAP AUTHENTIC THAI FOOD! For just less than 10 dollars you get filled up good with a meal, dessert and drink.
-Jet Rag: Awesome thrift store, that doesn't even look like a thrift store, everything is super organized, cool and hip clothing too.
-Hsi Lai Chinese Buddhist Temple: Every chinese new year they have a big festival for a few days, with lion dances, kung fu dances and other cultural events.
-Little Ethiopia
-Beach, duh. Surfing, anyone?
-Shopping: The grove, Beverly Center, 3rd Street Promenade, North Robertson Blvd, too many to name, Melrose
-Independent art shows etc. (Thinkspace Gallery at Silverlake)
-Silverlake and Los Feliz has some cool stores, coffee shops, restaurants, they're very young and hip parts of LA.
-bands perform here in LA all the time! The Troubadour, The Greek Theatre, Hollywood bowl
-Horseback riding at Griffith Park or the Hollywood Hills
-Celebrity spotting, I just saw Shia Lebeouf, Jon Voight and Brandon Ruth at the transformer's premiere at Westwood. Also saw Jason Biggs sitting behind me at a White Stripes concert.
-Alhambra summer jubilee: Joan Jett, Kool and the Gang are playing, for free. A few more bands are playing too but I am not sure.
-New year's day Rose Parade at the Rose Bowl
-Every month the Getty hosts the "6pm off the 405" event, where they have DJs, the dance floor and drinks. Really really fun!
-UCLA vs. USC football game!</p>

<p>I know there are tons more, I'll probably add more later.
Really, how does LA suck? (except for the traffic of course, but this is expected out of any big city)</p>

<p>I still think it sucks.</p>

<p>-Lacks character</p>

<p>-Drenched in shallow materialism</p>

<p>-Pollution</p>

<p>-Traffic. Even if its expected in major cities, that doesn't excuse LA for the magnitude of their problem.</p>

<p>-Everything is so far away from each other and theres no good train/bus system</p>

<p>-You said it yourself, Celebrity spottings! Come on, give me a break, LA breeds stupidity in their values and spreads it to the rest of the world.</p>

<p>But I appreciate the list you made. I have to go to LA in August for a wedding :)</p>

<p>The pollution and transportation system, I agree those truly need more improvement.
I also noticed a slow improvement at downtown LA. A few years back, a lot of places looked really ghetto. But it looks like they are trying to clean up some areas, a gradual change though. And I am see a lot of new expensive lofts entering the housing market at downtown LA.</p>

<p>Whatever.</p>

<p>LA is so big and so many different places make it up. ALL downtowns it big cities have the same problem. Its no different in the Bay Area.</p>
