My kid is attending an Anchor Day this Monday, the day after Easter, so we are arriving Sunday afternoon and staying in a hotel between campus and downtown. We are looking for suggestions on things to do to get a “feel” for Nashville and the area around campus. The Ryman Auditorium has a group we are not interested in seeing and the Grand Ole’ Opry is closed for the holiday. Suggestions appreciated! ^:)^
You could visit Centennial Park. https://www.nashville.gov/Parks-and-Recreation/Parks/Centennial-Park.aspx
You could also walk around downtown, maybe Broadway St. Not sure if much will be happening on Easter Sunday but you never know.
Good ideas, @Bama89, thanks!
Stroll down 12 South? I’m not sure what will all be open because of Easter Sunday but Frothy Monkey and Las Paletas are two popular spots there, plus by Sprinkles is the “I Believe In Nashville” mural which is practically a must if you have an Instagram :).
There’s the pedestrian bridge which is nice to walk on, always.
Jeni’s Ice Cream is also very popular. There is one within reasonable walking distance to Vanderbilt on 21st Ave South (I think) about a halfway point between Vandy and Belmont.
Oh and of course Pancake Pantry but I’d imagine it would be literally impossible to get in on Easter Sunday. It’s hard enough to get in on a regular Sunday…!
Sorry I’m thinking a lot about food right now, huh? Lol
Thanks @somehmonggirl!
Thanks for all the advice…my kid went to the ice cream shop with a friend from campus. We ended up really enjoying a terrific dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory downtown which sits in an old tobacco warehouse. The interior is spacious and decorated with antiques and a full-size replica street car. And while my kid did the Anchor Days events, I waited in line for Hattie’s fried chicken which was served crisp, hot and to the level of spice ordered. Perfect! Great campus and city for walking…and eating!
Glad you guys had fun! Yes, Nashville is GREAT for foodies!
