I'm visiting Rochester this sunday/monday for a visit and interview. Based on everything I've researched, UR is the place for me. But while I visit, I'm looking to get a feel for the overall atmosphere and to see what there is to do if I end up attending. Are there any things that I absolutely have to experience while I'm in town?

natmorri, that's great that you're visiting! I am the admissions counselor for the state of Michigan, so let me know if you have any additional questions. While you're visiting, I'd say it's important that you go to the Dinosaur Barbecue for dinner one evening with your parents. I would also take a drive through the Park Ave. area and/or "High Falls," a nice district with shops and a couple of nice places to eat.

If you are into music at all, go to the Eastman campus just so you know where it is. You might want to see if there are any performances over the weekend that would interest you. The Eastman Theatre is a beautiful performance space. Also, the George Eastman House is quite interesting even if you are not into photography. Finally the Strong Museum has the largest collection of toys on display in the world if that is something that interests you. I, too, would recommend visiting High Falls. It is quite lovely.

photography and music are right up my alley. I'll definitely try to check all of those places out.
