thinking about dropping ap calc ab

This is my only ap class my senior year. Took ap comp sci last year. My math is mediocre where as previous math classes hovered around b and b-. I still don’t really know what I want to major in but I want to do something with information technology. Should I drop it?

I wouldn’t drop it. Since you plan on majoring with something relating to informational technology, the chances of you having to take calculus in college is likely. Even if you don’t take the AP exam, I would keep going with the class just to get some more exposure to the material that way you don’t struggle as much when you get into a college course.

Is there a non-AP level calculus class you can take?

School only offers ap ab and bc calc. Not sure about them having anything else. I’m just worried about the class tanking my gpa which its like a B. I talked the my counselor last week she said I could drop it or audit the class.

I guess you could audit the class. If you were to drop the class, do you know what class you would replace it with?

I was thinking I might take an engineering course or just taking a free period.

If you’re serious about IT, I’d get a tutor and stick with calculus. It will help in college, plus many colleges want to see four years of math on your transcript.

Well, im not really looking into competitive colleges probably cc or a state school and getting a tutor is kinda expensive for me.

Take Calc AB and let that grade hover around B. Then take Calc again in college.

I’ve decided to stick with it. I hope it goes well!
